I've always loved the clean look. It looks even better before you add all the rest of the required bits. What other cars do they have on display? Still considering going but there needs to be more than just one car.

There is another more complete blue car on the stand.
Didn't get a chance to take a photo as there where to many people stood around
It at the time.
Both cars where getting a lot of interest which on the face of it was looking is good for MZR
How many will part with £80k+ I am not sure

Someone's nicked the MC off the blue car! Looks a quality job for sure. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh so to speak.

The cars looked absolutely stunning. I had a chat with Rahail and when you hear how much work goes into each one and how many bespoke parts they have developed you can see where the sales price comes from.

The lad has put huge amounts of time and money into his company, he loves his Zs and I really hope it works for him, he deserves it. Then again, I deserve one if his cars, but short of a lottery win, it won't be happening!

Nice looking cars build wise. Not keen on the wheels and lack of profile of the tyre, doesn't look as classy. However its subjective and easy to change.

Nice to see there's someone in the UK making decent 240's at last.

I have never met Rahail which guy is he in the pictures?

These are superb looking S30s and I'm sure will raise the profile of our cars again.

He is doing what some other Marque specialists do with cars like E Types. I think there is a market for this 'upselling' but it's limited at that price.

Do MZR still sell cars at £25-30k.

Are these cars in the Thread converted from LHD?

Thanks Tony.

A pleasure Sean, they were certainly stirring quite a bit of interest from admisring punters.

He the one crouched down at the driver window talking

I have met rahali once and been over to mzr workshop in Bradford he a nice guy never met Martin

Reason I went over to him as he was wanting a pabel beater and sprayer to give Martin a hand doing the bodywork on the zeds

Very impressive place

I appreciate the amount of work that's gone into them, but I'm really not that keen if I'm honest.

I really like Rahail, we get on so well, and I really hope he and Martin succeed with this, which I'm sure they will. I'd probably need to see one in the flesh, but even if I won the lottery I don't think I'd have my own Z like this.

Each to their own....

These are cars aimed at the younger generation. They love 'minimalistic' , weak rollbars, throttle bodies, low profile tyres etc etc.

So in that respect they are successful, but how many of that generation can afford 80k ?

Tbh I quite like these two cars but they are far from finished so it's like looking at a nice modern housing estate without any cars cluttering roads and drives. Also why go to the trouble of resiting the handbrake?

Considering the audience perhaps an RB engine might justify the cost.

But lovely cars and great quality. These can only have a positive impact on the public.

Anyway are these originally LHD cars?

They are originally LHD cars from sunny CA. I know cos I asked him! They are then converted to RHD obviously and the US VIN is retained. Just got in so will reply more later including to Woody’s mirror question.

They should have shut the door properly for this picture.

I could be wrong but looks like the stamped bulkhead vin number on both cars has been erased ?

Err.....

Why only the younger generation Rob ?

'weak' rollbars ? That is a half-cage surely - ideal for a minimum of protection for an owner wanting to do a few trackdays per year without complicating normal entry and exit....which might also be contentious during an MOT ?

I don't see the issue of being 'unfinished' for two reasons :

1) MZR are making bespoke cars so if a customer chooses one of them and wants something specific - he gets it without having to undo the work.

2) they show off the cars more bare/ more in 'the buff' so people can see the attention to detail before it's covered up.

3) frequently, all you get to sell housing new estates is an autocad drawing, in reality a muddy track with perhaps some foundation breeze-blocks - these are real, touchable, smellable......you induce covetting !;)

Handbrake...also why delete the OEM ignition lock ? Maybe people like 'different' details, the kind of customer who can say "mine is 'unique'' !

RB ? Rob, don't you get 'it' , These are classic-cars not tuning - subtle difference and swapping the engine loses all the charm.

Agreed that they can only be very positive for the scene.

Isn't this what is called 'back-dating' ? Like Singer Porsches ?

I’m just going on what he said. On the iPad atm and pics are on my phone so more comments to come tomorrow ...

Level of finish on the cars are excellent and the ‘bespokeness’ of them is where the cost is. I’m sure everything on them is up for discussion. Front and rear suspension on both looked to be fully adjustable.

Sean, I don't want to get into the usual 'you said this and I say this' but I will just clarify my comments.

The young lads like to fit roll-bars to make their cars look sporty. Some of which are nothing short of 'cosmetic'. The bars in these cars look 'weak' to me i.e. they don't have triangulation and they appear to have weak mounts on the top of the strut tower (especially the blue car). I don't know anymore about them (e.g. bottom mounts may be on rear deck?) but I don't think they would be approved for motorsport. I agree they are better than nothing but I reckon they are fitted mainly for appearance. Perhaps they are as good as the original 'works' bars in the 70s though.

My housing estate remark was intend to draw a likeness to the 'bare appearance'. I remember walking around a new housing estate on a Sunday. The estate was almost complete but it was bare and it looked lovely and also spacious. Then I tried to imagine it if each house had one car on the drive and one car on the road (at the least) and it would look completely different, cluttered and confined. These cars look much better than they will when 'road ready'. That's all.

RB - are the people who buy these really interested in an old L6 motor. I am but I doubt a 30 year old with 80k would be - of course all this is just my opinion.

Lovely cars and they will appeal to an 'un-tapped' market and also raise the profile of our cars.

It's a forum Rob, we discuss, exchange views - don't have to agree and also see the person prostrate themselves:cheers:

Agreed that the anti-roll 1/2 cage won't pass a scrutineer's inspection for motorsport....but then neither will the ITBs and probably other things fitted - these cars are, at best, intended for a few fun track-days but most probably a run down to the local for a sunday carver meal.

Btw, I've seen how this bar set-up protects the occupants following an accident here - trust me - it works !;) Looks sporty as well admittedly which does no harm in the sales-charm- it's a sports-car so not out of place surely ?

You're kidding me ? It is THE engine to have; classic 240Z, reto-look....retro engine ! If L-series DOHCs weren't so expensive, I'm sure they'd be one in there to emulate the Z432....wouldn't surprise me if we don't see something like that within 5 years.

Besides, swaps are 'cheap' power....it costs a LOT more to approach the magic 300bhp with an L-gata which you know of course - all pushes the price up even if people don't 'need' all that.

Finally, Jenvey have invested tons into EFI and the retro look - it IS very popular.

Totally agreed with your last statement and indeed others being built throughout Europe - the quality is on the up and all good for the marque !

I wish there was an off the shelf solution that used the body pick-ups also, however it’s also nice that all the proper period parts aren’t freely avalible as it does lower the charm of those parts of they’re widely avalible.

Like exhausts and manifolds ? Some people have worked hard to ensure that parts ARE available and also to encourage owners to bite the bullet and restore.:p
