Whoopee

Thanks buddy the tail gate picture was very helpful indeed, I can see how they're supposed to be fitted now, I bought a set of securon static belts today with a extension belt just in case I need a bit more length ;).

Rob

What year is your car?

Err, 3.2 actually;):) part of me wished I had gone for their 3.3litre, oh well:unsure:

It doesn't pay to be greedy Ian :lol:.

I've only got 2.6 to play with so I'm feeling a little bit inadequate at the moment :(;).

The Z is booked into the garage next week to have the exhaust made and a few bits and bobs I can't be bothered with done.

Hopefully I can have it on the road with in a couple weeks .

Well I hit another mile stone today because it's now back on it's wheels for the first time in over a year, I was going to push it out of the garage and give it a bit of a wash, But one of the wheels is missing a valve so I couldn't keep it pumped up, I'll try again tomorrow after getting a new valve from quick fit hopefully.

I'll take some pictures.

Well here it is in all it's glory lol, Nearly there now just a few jobs in the pedal box area that I'm to big to do myself, I just don't fit in such a small space especial with a dodgy back.

The front susp hasn't settled properly yet I don't think.

A better picture of the dash in situ, I need to touch up the centre gauge because it got scratched when I had to take it out with the dash back in place, A bit of matt black paint and a small brush should do the trick.

lookin good mate, i bet you can not wait to give it a blast down the road !!!!!!!!!

regarding the front suspension and your zg arches,if you look at a lot of these cars they do have more clearance on the front making them look high,so i would not worry too much about it.

Cheers Moggy.

I'm hoping it settles a bit more but it's not the end of the world.

I want to get some new wheels when I can afford it, I quite like the Ronal R10's but they might not suit the Z, Can't make my mind up on size either 15"/16" or 17" what to do for the best lol, I think 15's would be best but am unsure.

Also I'm still finding the inspection lids a bit trick to fit at the moment, Got any tips lol.

Rob at least 16s with them arches
whats the problem with the inspection flaps? hope they don't seem to long as if this is the case sombody didn't do a trial fit of the pannels befor painting, wing and door gaps ar bigger than modern cars you see

Yes they're to long at the moment, It looks like the wings will need to move forward a tad, The paint shop didn't do the best of jobs in my opinion. Put it this way they're not getting near it again.

Its just one of those little jobs that I'll sort out once it's on the road, I can live with out them for a month or two.

I suspect it won't - can you see what's going on with the dampers, or have you fitted the stock dust covers ?

My advice would be choose your tyre width first and go from there.

Car is looking really nice :)

All the susp and bushes are new including mikes lowering springs, I'm sure it will settle down a bit more once it's done a few miles on our bumpy roads lol.

Regarding wheels choice I've read that old cars don't really get on that well with big wheels and low profile tyres, With having quite stiff susp I don't really fancy running on elastic bands lol, I'm thinking 15" wheels would look OK. As far as tyre size goes I'm thinking 225 at the rear maybe 245, and 205 on the front because I don't want to struggle with the steering at low speeds.

I ask because I think there is a limit to how low you can get the front down before the damper rests on it's bump stops. If you could see the damper/bump stop you'd know, but if you have the stock damper dust covers it will hide it - I think it is worth a look.

If these are brand new springs front and rear, don't you think it seems odd that the front sits the highest considering that's where all the weight is ?

For info - I run 225/50/16 :)
