Weeeeee....... the Competition's hotting up for Track Days !

The Elvington Track Day on April 10th is being run by Javelin Motorsport, who also run them at Cadwell Park, see website :-

www.javelin-motorsport.co.uk

Other dates are also available, but this particular one is for the Retro classics, so it'll make me feel more at home.
Hopefully they will ban anyone with BIG Loudpeakers on the back shelf from getting onto the track......... or is that just wishful thinking ?

Big speakers aren't the problem, it's using 'em too loud at the wrong time!

(and playing BOOOM TSSSSH BOOOOM TSSSH music!)

its amazing how long it has taken this topic to take off but at least it has now. I dont feel that there is enough of a response to justify booking a track for our exclusive use and judging by the amount of track days available it would probably suit those that want to, to attend a venue local to themselves. for those that have not driven on a track before just take it steady and learn quickly. the speed will follow in due course. and be prepared for a set of tyres if you are going to try hard. ENJOY ben

Yes I'm interested.

The Jap Fest is a good chance for those who haven't tried it to see what it is like for just £17.50.

I'm sure bookatrack.com would take a block booking, thus eliminating the financial risk. As I have said in a previous thread their days are very well run and controlled. You can go as fast as you like, as long as you are in control and obey the overtaking rule ( don't pass unless the driver in front gives a positive signal ). This works really well. There are some very quick people at these days in serious cars but it is no problem.

The 2 club Goodwood days I've attended were great fun but very frustrating (95% queuing), on a bookatrack day you can stay out as long as you and the car can take it! It will cost a few bob though.

thanks for the response. sadly i dont think that we can justify booking a track for our exclusive use so it would seem that the best option would be to tag onto one of the many track days that have been mentioned. cheers ben

Ben, As soon as I've a Z on the road, I'll vote for a track day ! Here, 3 weeks ago, track sessions of 15 minutes were going for 6 pounds ! Just a driving licence and ordinary road insurance required - can I get anyone interested in a French Z track day - can I b****cks !

Pmac - I suggest you drive a 200SX - I briefly owned a 1990 version and it flies to 140 mph ! Maybe it does have airco and power steering but then so do 300s ! Gotta touch of Clark, son ?

Suzy,

Am planning to attend Japfest, but not on the track. I'll need to tweak my brakes before I do that sort of thing.

Tony,
If I can race my 240 with standard brakes, flat out for15 laps I,m sure you can manage a track day! Just make sure there in tip top condition and use some good quality race fluid. I'll even lend you some carbon kevlar pads if you like!

...you know I'm getting fed up with hearing that stock callipers and discs are crap. They really aren't that bad !!

Use good fluid like Castrol super dot 4, a pair of those fancy pads from Mr F and some braided lines. End of problem.

God I wish my car was on the road, I'd offer you a ride just to scare the f**k out of you :p

....talking of Toyota's, now the brakes on my Celica are seriously crap, single piston sliding calliper yuk yuk yuk...... kind of adds to the fun though in the same manor that the handling does in the wet !
