tourbyz

jonnyd64, you didn't upset me and blow anyone who was although I thank those who had kind words for me !

I want ZXs on this tour but it's going to cost - no way round it. The tour is at present about 600 miles long, divided into 150 miles per day at no breakneck speeds but lots of down shifting and hills / mountains so consumption is not going to be optimum.
I can usually find hotels for 25 - 30 quid per room with brekkie and maybe some of us are going to camp some nights to keep the costs down but one has to think of 1,500 quid per car even so !

I won't hold my breath for ZXs to arrive !!! Someone prove me wrong, 'cos this is going to be fun !
Jonnyd64, you wouldn't want me to leave you at the foot of a mountain anyway in my 240 !
See you around somewhere !

I woulkd love to travel round any country ok not just any but the ones metioned but i get travel sick plus my 280zx isn't roadworthy yet

SeanDezart : If anyone is going to the NEC Sunday, please introduce yourselves - I'm the hairless a*seh*le !
<span id='postcolor'>
your a*rseh*le may be hairless but remember what pauline calls you (to rude to post on here) hope they are both still hairy (private and old joke)
Its great to hear you are coming over for the NEC shame that more members have not let us know they are going

See you there on the Sunday

On your way back to France want to drop into my house for a meal as Pauline would love to see you again

We're down to stay at Slackeys' Sunday evening but as we might all be driving down together ... I'll speak to Cathy !

Hi you all,

Like to clear things up before Sean gets more spanky from you!

The name is Guus van der Bol, founder and former president of the Dutch Z & ZX Club. A Z nut for almost 19 years. As you could read, Sean mentioned it already; I’ve got a replica Monte car. Not only a show Z but also an active historic rally car.

With that in mind and seeing the Tour the France last summer I came up with the idea of the tourbyZ. You could see it as an alternative of the very luxurious Historic Monte Carlo rally which cost you roughly €5000. Driving over the mountaintops, through the old villages and as I said to Sean drink, eat and drive (?) like a Frenchman. Or was it live? Must be live, they can’t drive!!!:D

The first intension was too round France. But that was quite impossible because of the distance, 3000km! But the idea was still there.
Than I set up a mail list of people who I thought would be interested. And yes they all were Z people, Dutch, German French and perhaps some British? You have to see it from the old rally cars prospective. ;) It has nothing to do with A Z or a ZX. This is a personal dream that got out of hand. My intention was to do it with 5 or 10 cars ….just friends, you know what I mean? Then people said why don’t we go international? If I give Sean ‘the free hand’ he organise a Billing though the Alps……………..!!!!! And that is not what I had in mind, I stick to my plan. It’s a vision, sorry for that.

If any ZX owner wants to register for this tour and he that is organising it says NO, I will drop out and run a combined Z/ZX tour in parallel.

you surprise me  :(

"I won't hold my breath for ZXs to arrive !!! " Don't be surprised !

And also you must realise that I haven't entirely given up trying to have ZXs on the run - "Someone prove me wrong, 'cos this is going to be fun !" Cos I fought hard in the early nineties to have ZXs at eg the NEC show ie accepted as classic cars. This was the time when show organisers allowed the Jag XJS on Jag stands as a 'modern classic' whilst refusing to allow the Z31 - too advanced perhaps !

ps thanks for the taking some of the heat !

Lucky bastards !

For all the beer that Guus drank, it's Symons' beer gut that impresses !
Talking of Guus, I now name you Guus - la gueule !

Thanks for sharing your photos !
