Are you saying that you bought the 77 2+2 from new and still have it?
It looks great by the way!!

Yes, ordered the car from the middle east in 1977 kept it there for a year then shipped it back to the uk registered it in 1978 (T), if I remember right the 2+2 was approx £6500 here there it was approx 25k rials approx (£4250) it didn't matter if you wanted to add extras so it has factory A/C still 25k rials, it is rhd uk spec the only difference is the speedo is in clicks there local law.. original picture attached is 1 week after delivery. Used to keep in in a container and use it at weekend when in the middle east..

So just you as the sole owner since new in 77, fantastic !
Wonder if that is the record for oldest/longest one owner car on here ?
Anyone had a 240Z from new and can beat it ?

Looks in nice condition.
Have you had the car restored over the years ?
What mileage have you done ?
Any major bills or replacement parts ?

I think we do have a couple of 240Zs owned for a Looong time by the current owner but I can't remember someone owning one from new. I'll delve.

My 240Z was owned by the first owner from '73 until he died in 2006 i.e. 33 years.

Some great cars there TMR, hope you are philosophical about selling car No.8 on the list bearing in mind what is is worth today;)

Bought the car for £2k sold it for £4,600 to repair the roof on the house link to when it was auctioned in 2011 attached, been sold since by Hexagon about 2 years ago for just under £500k as I had a valid reason for selling the car I have no regrets I know for sure the subsequent owners would not have as much fun as I had with it.
By the way car number 4 a works prototype is worth the most ex Monte Carlo rally with Raymond Baxter

Some superb lists, so here's mine; my 'Zed' motivation started with the blue 260z in my scalextric set when I was a kid....but it had to be a targa top.

Starting in 1989....usually owned 2-3 cars + bikes at a time as i like a choice of what to use in a morning ;)

1978 Morris marina - my excuse is that i was still at college and had no money
1978 Daimler Sovereign, rusty but full webasto roof - bought with my first pay cheque
1980 Capri 1.6 - owed with Daimler because the Daimler had a drinking problem
1986 XR2 - because the Daimler had oil pressure problems and I sold the carpi
1986 Volvo 740 - the car that never needed any maintenance other than oil changes
1979 Mg Midget , kept it for 13 years and only used it one summer !, sold it
1980 Daimler Sovereign, less rusty than my first one, sold it
1984 Opel Monza - always wanted one and loved it but scrapped due to rust
1993 Rover 800 - head gasket blew, like they all did, sold it
1990 Range Rover Vogue 3.9 - because i had a Dinky one as a kid !, sold to a mate
1990 Daimler Sovereign xj40 variant, not enough headroom due to sunroof, sold it
1986 Opel Monza Gse still got it after 10 years but its about to be scrapped...
1993 Xj6 with lpg - ran like a swiss watch but eventually rusted away, scrapped
1989 Honda VFR...bit boring so sold it
1998 Kawasaki ZZR1100...absolutely ballistic....in a straight line, sold it.
1983 Datsun 280zx targa ....owned 8 years, hardly used it but love it ! :D
1992 Range rover Vogue 3.9 - still got it - always needs parts and loves to rust.
2001 Yamaha R1..very quick and goes around corners, still got it
1998 Honda Firestorm...v-twin engine, real world performance and sounds fab
1994 xj6 with lpg - dropped and exhaust valve so not worth fixing, scrapped
1986 Opel Monza Gse pretty good condition still got it
1997 xj6 with lpg - still got it, x300 model, best combo of looks + reliability in a jag
1979 xj6 series 3 .the winter 2015 project !.....best looking saloon car ever made.

Current stock is 7 cars and 2 bikes......and yes, thats a great way to test how much the wife really loves you ...but recently they have all started to rise ever so slowly in value....

Cheers
Ash

So which of the two Datsuns do you still own - or do you still have both? Very impressive list,

I have still got both of the Datsuns and would find it very difficult to part with them forgot to add to the list
1959 Berkeley B105
1979 Triumph Dolomite Sprint
1978 MGB GT
Also had a part share in a 2cv bought for a 24 hour race not one of my better purchases

Always had a fancy for a Dolomite Sprint. What are you - some kind of car dealer???? What a list!

The Sprint was good in a straight line ride height was a bit too high for my liking had an intermittent problem with the overdrive which would slip usually when you were trying to overtake. Dealer ? no I'm a stone mason I just love certain cars and driving

Wow, some great history and fabulous cars there guys. Love the fact that people have managed to keep their favourites for so long. I bet we all have cars / bikes where we can say.." If only I'd kept that..." On my small scale, I sold my last Lambreta Sx200 for £85. Bought my latest one and restored it..£10K! Not quite on the Aston level, but still a huge percentage increase.

Some more pictures might be good though - I know you may have been put off by what Skiddy might say about your hairstyle, but come on, risk ;)it!

TMR (Steve) my neighbour (Pete Brown) in the 70s had an Aston DB2/4 - lovely car. He also raced a Dolly Sprint (ex G Marshall) in later life. You have had some classy cars and how could you afford an Aston at that age?

Rob I think I remember him was it a red 2/4. I was single had a good job with plenty of overtime at Aston Martin and I bought the Aston with a loan from my mom not sure that she would have been so forthcoming if she knew I was going to race it. Also they did not attract such a premium in those days I paid £600 for this car which was in a chicken shed.
