Spike and samuri new web site

Samuris - to wield the sword ... or not ?
Why should Samuris be worshipped ?

Because in the 70's they were special (and still are) and it is history that we must keep alive.

Steve,

I only asked the question - I didn't say they shouldn't be - that's to discuss !

Remember these words ? :

Its all so strange and grey

Spike does an alleged runner to Spain, Kevin clears debts and re registers the Samuri Conversion Ltd with Ross and carries on producing a product called Super Samuris

Then we hear that a 75th Super Samuri is being produce but IMHO it follows that it should be produced by a company registered as Samuri Conversion Ltd .......................so the calling it the 75th Sam is somewhat of a grey area

A strange blend of fact, personal opinion and heresay........

Where one cannot dispute certain facts.....life is more of an emotional affair (non ?) and IMHO, no 75 will carry on the 'Spike A.' sensation - strike one against the librarians !:p

........ you effing armchair heroes...........

Hmmm,
I think you might want to be a little more cautious about the hands you bite, Sean. Especially if you remember that you have had to call on one of those "librarians" to help you answer somebody else's questions many times in the past.......

Remember too that one of these "librarians" actually supplied parts that were attached to many of the cars which were built by your hero. Your car too I believe? And all that whilst sitting in his armchair........

Is it human nature to nail up every hero?........ then praise 'em when they've gone?

I don't know about anyone else, but in my opinion the subject of this thread had plenty of praise whilst he was still around, and then plenty after he had, er, how shall we say this politely? - how about 'absconded'? Perhaps there would be a case for a little bit of metaphorical "nailing up" now?

Better late than never. Just ask that elephant in the room.

Hadn't thought of you? my Count as a librarian.........still, if that's your banner - you wave it as proudly as you wish - do you not get out much in your Zs then ?

But I won' t diminish the power of your armchair, the importance of parts imported by yourself :bow:and the bountiful tree of knowledge that grows in that pot next to your PC !

Librarians (and I had two others in mind) aside, why not praise the subject today ? What, as regards the cars etc has changed since he left the country ? Do we knock Katayama because he left Nissans' Z scene before the end of the S30 reign ?

Let's not be disrepsectful to someone who was there, doing it - who tried and let's not judge a man for leaving Thatchers' Britain !;)

My car is a DJR who was inspired by Spike of Samuri fame - that makes it a Samuri in essence, built and prepared by DJR.

Oh my god, now I have seen it all. A car which has never been near Samuri is now a Samuri in essence.

That's one more to the Super "duper" list of Samuri's.

:lol::lol:

No one as far as I can see is knocking Spike or being disrespectful to him by trying to clarify the whole thing
Or do we just take things for granted and not try and find out the complete story

Are you telling me now that the reason Spike left the UK due to Thatcher

Spike was the man of the moment at the time in GB
But there is a continued tale to be told about Samuri Convertion Ltd after he left the country

Tongue in cheek my friend.......and where's your engine coming from ? But the point is that what inspired (in the UK) many owners to upgrade was what was leaving Spikes' workshop !

Why try and find out here "the whole story" ? The story stopped for Spike when he left the country and if there is a tale to be told about Samuri Conversions Ltd after he left the country, it aint Spikes' tale - it's Kevin Irons' so ask him and start a new thread !

Quote "Spike was the man of the moment in the UK" and his moment ended. We might know more when the book comes out, hopefully we'll know more about those moments then and perhaps some nice ones yet to pass !;)

ps I don't know why Spike left Britain and I don't care, I also don't care if he 'absconded' or merely emigrated..........I know that I left Britain in '93 for several reasons and several of them won't get me any medals up here if I list them.

What I do care about is that the man isn't judged up here and respected for what he did with our Zs, the legacy left behind and what the future may bring.

Tongue in cheek my friend.......and where's your engine coming from ?

Maybe we need a smilie for that :)

And yes there is a rumour that DJ is doing my engine ;), but I suppose one day all S30's in the UK will have a DJ motor or something - like they all have Samuri heads today :D

A smilie like that would look too much like a bl*w-j*b !:D

Another reason why I want to compile a register of DJR cars.....no replicas, no hangers on, no grey areas and a nice project for a retirement book when he's just making curreys and selling the recipes !

Spikes new web site is up at www.samuri.eu use the navagation at the bottom of the page as the top did not work when I looked.

Dave
The navigation bars are working OK the reason for the confusion is the web site is so full of pictures it is very slow which is what delays the navigation.

But he doesn't do a full package like a Super Samuri was, so a register is pointless.
Before you know it you'll be wanting a register for any car that went to fourways for this & that doing. Then any car with none standard struts, then any car with a 6 branch exhaust & triples fitted by the owner.
Where is it all going to end?

Let's chat about this on the other thread, more relevant to DJR - ok ?

Well my old mate you amaze me
On the one hand you want to know the history of Samuri and people involved then on the other hand you don't

Now I wonder if it was just Spike who was involved in the alleged 75th Samuri whether you would be so interested

Here are a few little snippets I have found

A Rally Sam

Here is a picture of a Samuri (presumably?..!!) rally car run by Adrian Patten and Danny Morgan in the late 70's, built from an accident damaged car.

The other picture (jumping) is an ex Chris Sclater RAC rally car that they previously owned!

Steve, if you have a scan of that old magazine article about Chris Duffy and Tim Riley's disastrous exploits in what is now our car, I would love to see it. Thanks.

Hugh

Now this is what were talking about - getting out there and doing it ! Yeah ! I'd love to see a Healey jump so high.......and survive !

Impressive 30 years ago AND STILL impressive.
