Spa Classic 24-25-26 Mai 2013

Sylvain and Hubert - I hope you have a great time at Spa, I plan to meet with you next year. Maybe include the Nurburgring?

Please look after my friends John and Matt they will be lost without their 'uncle' by their side ;)

Yessss! Of course, Hub and I have upgraded with turbos (2 for Hub and 1 for me) just to take care of those two guys :D

John, Matt, if you want to have meal with us Friday night, i have just booked a restaurant at 7.30 pm in Malmedy

Tell me so that i call to add 2 dishes

Looking forward

Hi Guys
Have a great time, I know you all will!:D
Hope the weather is as good as last year.
I should be back next year and agree with Rob a wee excursion to the Nurburgring would be a great idea.

Above all be safe!!

Regards
Andrew

Tickets arrived.

A meal Friday night sounds good.

I think the cars ready. Stripped the turb off on Monday and replace the gaskets. 4 new R888's. Cooling upgrade. New disks. Roll cage and a few other jobs completed.

Guys if you get time have a look at the old circuit route, especially the Masta Kink:
Masta Kink [edit]

The Masta Kink was one of the most fearsome sections on any race track in the world, requiring skill and bravery in equal measure to get it right. After a long run from Malmedy, the cars would reach top speed before having to negotiate Masta, a high speed left-right chicane, and a good exit speed was vital as it was followed by another long straight run to Stavelot. This was a very fast and very dangerous corner because it was situated right in the middle of 2 very long unbroken straights both about 1½ miles long (2.4 km).

Rob, probably the weather is going to give us some changes from the two past experiences... on the track... and after! John and Matt lost? They will have a new life i'm sure!! :p
Everything is ready for a great time, and you will feel missing it... until next year..

My frustration from last year with the supercharger will dissapear with the Z32TT rating 500 BHP on the rolls, but the Nufzed project is on the way for a real update! Time is still missing as always! Any chance to see you around Reims sometime?;)

Hubert, the weather may improve the racing spectacle - perhaps true Spa weather?

Yes I will miss the fun but I'm retired and I have to spend less

Z32 - wow you have a lot of Nissans! However my favourite car of your's is the Spa- Franchorchamps Capri.

Reims - perhaps Historic Monte Carlo

Have a great time.

What a week-end, my friends! It was great...or even gigantic if the qualifier applies!!
John and Matt did all well, just as the 27 Datsun/Nissan cars present did. The weather was reasonnable on Friday and Saturday, with dry sessions... and turned wet, rainy and foggy on the Sunday for another experience!

Claire had three sessions with the roadster 2000, but stopped at the end of the third with an engine problem... I have to see what is the reason...

The Z32 was absolutely gigantic, with Friday discovery of the performance, and Saturday application of the learning. Sunday was a session with an egg under each foot, on typical Spa conditions!!

Rob, I had a closed eye to your chaps, and they stayed very reasonnable for what I could see. They escaped my survey on Saturday night as I was taking the safe early finish with Catherine, and it looks they had "the cat dance when the dog is away"... just by evaluating the head noise on the Sunday morning...:D

I'll leave John and Matt with their conclusions about this very nice meeting, and here are some pictures from the datsun-France website (before the videos!).;)

Just got home from another great Spa Classic. The Datsun France club made us very welcome, as usual and the weather was extremely kind to us despite the forecast. I even got a sun tan. It rained All of Sunday so we ended the day early. This was probably a good thing as I was suffering from the effects of a wine tasting session on Saturday night. Lots of high standard cars as usual with Hubert's Z32 and the 2seater green one showing us just how good the car can be on the track. I loved the attension to detail on Greg's white s30 and a big thank you to Alexander for taking me out in his GTR on the Saturday track session.

Roll on text year!

Ps. Car done me proud yet again and made the trip home (nearly 350miles) on 51l of fuel. We weren't driving with economy in mind for any of the trip either with the 250mile to the tunnel in around 3hrs.

What a great time we had.
As you can see my Driver was enjoying himself to the maximum sampling the local brews!

Vital for everyone to keep there fluid intake up!

Many thanks to Hubert,Sylvain,Sean and all the other guys for making us feel welcome.

Excellent video. I can fully understand the laughter in the car - these old cars shouldn't go that fast. Last year when John took me round in his car I did exactly the same and when the video was played back it sounded stupid.

Sylvain your car is very quick however down the straights John just disappears into the distance. It's not an equal competition.

Guys you need to book a 'proper' trackday for this speed of driving though.:smash:

Le Baron Noir really is a superb photographer!

Hubert, lots of life in the old dog yet then. Don't show Catherine this video, especially the part where you squeezed passed Claire in the Roadster!

I notice it took John a lap to get passed you and Sylvain 2 laps. :driving:

Will Nissan/Datsun be banned from the 'Club Laps' next year ;)

Rob, Claire has a panoramic mirror! ;)

Don't get misunderstood: John stayed one lap at my back to have a look how the Z32 was doing, and he gave me the comments with Matt back on the parking. He passed me at the second he decided to do so! :D

With Sylvain, I was closer, but still on the learning curve for me...

I am sure that the car can do much better, but this was the first time on track for me with this car. Very nice experience!

Banned next year? With the massive number of GTR's and the special sessions for them, I think they could consider special Datsun/Nissan sessions!
