shows

good news for next years Extravaganza at Billing an extra feild has been confirmed as being booked by JAE I would envisage that that field would be for camping only and all of Shelduck Meadow 1 & 2 would be for the car show maybe we could get a zclub only allocated camping space

Also as a follow on from the AGM I have found an alternative camping venue in Shropshire to hold a second Z Club weekend

Have a look and see what you think its website address is www.llcp.co.uk

I have just spoken to Sam of the Honda R Club, who is involved in the organising of next years JAE at Billing and have agreed with her that the Z Club will be allocated the same sized plot as we had in 2001 and it will also be in the same place backing onto the top road so we will have direct access on to the field in exchange for this I have offered that the Z Club would take charge of the marshalling of the top road as we did in 2001 and in doing so have some imput into the monitering of the event.
The honda club is going to have thier plot at another major point so they can take care of the marshalling at that point and it is proposed that the lancer club take over another stratigic point

What a subject and what a lorra replies.
I'm back on line with more things to say than space and time allows.
Billing began as a cool Zed weekend, then when it was decided to amalgamate the track day and summer camp, Billing was the obvious choice being relatively central.
What I saw this year with a gaggle of French enthusiasts in tow was, for me, a true reflection of the current culture you have over there - all brash and no class - pure egoism!
Sunday was better except for the selfish idiots burning rubber when it was hard to spot the tarmac for people.
Saturday night must have been awful to sleep for those who didn't have the foresight to bring ear plugs.

The French were disappointed that there were not more Zed trade stands but erevyone got what he wanted and more.
I read what MJP wrote for himself and others about a second 'event' but I feel that we all must evolve and the general feeling is that lets try and have a more peaceful w/e on another date. Perhaps there will be les stands, thier loss and ours but we know where to get the parts if we want them and anyone serious enough about rummaging through plastic boxes and ordering specific second hand/new parts will always go the the JAE as well.

Billing is a good location, sad but a fact that if it was placed any further north, there wouldn't be as much support - I still remember Aintree in '93 (thankyou again Mark and Gill for your help). But it was easy to get out of - didn't you look at the maps you were given at the entrance gate? I got out with a convoy of cars in 4 minutes!

Itsa bitch to organise something like the JAE, you can't please everybody, it's shameful that a club the size of ours cannot supply one person to liase and a small relay of people to help on the w/e and if by the size of replies on this subject, itsan event we would like to participate in again but with more control - get off your butts and influence the running of it - someone must be capable of standing up to/with Sam Browne!

The fireworks were superb - I'd be happy to contribute if asked but another time I'd come on the FRiday evening and begin to soak up the atmosphere earlier - it was too much of a rush to arrive Saturday morning.

See you all agin next year on ?? weekend - some dates please and maybe you'll come over and see us - Club Zen de France is putting on a weekend at the Golf Of Morbihan next spring, organised as well as Chino last year,Chalus this year, theSwiss Trip '91 and Goodwood '92.

ps
I'm still looking for a LHD 240Z...

whoa, whoa, whoa,

Hey, do you realize how lucky you are to ask yourself questions like that? Maybe it was too big, too noisy, not Z enough, too Scooby’s...
Come-on, in France we are days behind you as far as Z meetings, Jap meetings or even plain car meetings. I wish I could “failed” an event like Billings, because that would mean that a big mass of car fanatics came… Don’t be hard on anybody, there is always room for improvement in anything. So get involved and make it happen… you made so much already, take a little time, look back, then around, and think…
Maybe, if what you want is a big Z event, we should consider doing a Euro Z Event ? only Z-ZX but from all Europe. It could be hold on a 2 years basis and to be fair, across the pond every two events… just my 2 euro-cents (wonder what it make in penny’s)

Fred, and take it E.Z.E . (euro Z event)

Salut, Fred, ça va? Euro event is great idea.

A couple of friends of mine (now living in the Lot valley near Cahors) used to help run the Morris Minor OC foreign trip. They always had a great time - so I think a Euro Z trip is a great idea.

Perhaps it could start with a pre-Xmas wine raid on Calais? With an overnight stop for those who choose?

If people like it, perhaps it could evolve gradually into a longer event - say a few nights on a camp site near a track or strip for those who want to do some friendlt events?

I've never been to Billing so I shouldn't really have an opinion but personally would be more likely to turn up to an event which included all Z/ZXs rather than one which included all J performance cars. I don't mind the tuner / max power / hooligan element having fun (more power to their dump valves) but I'm over the hill as far as they are concerned!

Cheers - Gio

Glad you like it! How many more? don't be shy!!! If I get more than 20 "go for it fred" I will see that our club put something up... with your help and other clubs... we could make it.

Ok, that makes 4 people plus the 7 but we need a few more!
But Gio, dear 'over the hill' come over for a wine and beer dash before Christmas on the w/e 14/15 december and I'll arrange a visit to Northern Frances' WWII underground V2 site just 30 miles from Calais.
Accomodation doesn't have to expensive for one night or come early just for the day (probably Sunday). I did a little checking around when I was up there last and it is impressive!

Go for it Fred!
I'm not sure if we could make a beer dash this Dec but would definitely be up for a Euro Z event next year.
I don't know if it would be of any use but I know a nice little static caravan park, with facilities for campers, in the Loire Valley. It is halfway between Cholet and Saumur and only an hour and half away from Le Mans.
I'll work on some members that are not online and will let you know if they are up for it.

It's good to hear feed back on a Euro event but has anyone got any more ideas for a venue for a possible Z rally next year?
If anyone puts a venue on the forum I'll do the groundwork and find out availability/facilities/prices etc.
So what are you waiting for I'm offering to do the hard work for you!!

go for it fred as long as it doesnt clash with a hillclimb that i cant miss i will be there regards ben

I would also try to make an event across the channel no probs. sounds like a great idea.

Hummm!!!! it's cooking now! What I propose is to work from now until the end of the year on the pool (by the way this site as a very reactive webmaster, congratulations) maybe a multiple choice would be nice... lets express our desires freely until the end of October, then we will start the new multiple choice pool from November until the end of December, and we will see at last what’s coming out of it?

just my 2 francs (have tones of this useless thing now!!!&#33

Just fyi, I've got a couple of mates who used to organise car clubs foreign trips from the UK. They now live in the Lot Valley. They have lots of experience at car-club friendly sites and speak French! (The downside is that the car club was the MMOC! I think they still have 4 or 5...)

When your plans get more definite, if you would like to talk to these guys, I am sure they would be happy to make suggestions. Just let me know.

Cheers - Gio
