Well it sure makes it easier for Mercedes with their decision of how to deal with the situation of the 2 drivers

So the guy who sticks two fingers up publicly to a company who are paying him millions of pounds wage bill and has constantly been warned about his general behavior seems to have got away with it again

Reminds me of another knob end but this one can not hold his drink and then arrives late at places then abuses his assistants time and time again

I reckon they will go for Verstappen :)

Unlikely that Red Bull would part with him. Unless Mercedes offered them an engine deal in part-ex maybe Vettel would be a great choice for the viewing figures, complete anarchy as they both ignored team orders and tried to run each other off the track.

Do tell!

I think what annoys Lewis is the fact two of his titles were won when it ra a very clear two car race. Slightly empty titles. nico is a man of morals, beat him over the year and does what he promises to others and himself.

Steve, if you want the car to be driven from the pits do away with the driver.

TBH I thought Lewis might move to give himself a fresh challenge. I'm not a huge Lewis fan by the way.

Replacement - I think they like Germans so Vettel?

What's your problem ? The kid wants his life - he's always been a great driver, now he has his cup and he's still alive - reminds me of Sir Jackie S.

Do I care that his company paid him loadsmoney ? No, just like football teams buying people's souls. Good for him.

You want a spoilt-brat knob ? Hamilton
A whinging weener ? Vettel

New blood needed that believes in overtaking and NOT waiting for blue flags !

Stupid race series anyway......95% boring and only enlivened by off-track 'loft-story' antics of drivers and teams.

I'm not too surprised tbh, he's achieved what he wanted and know's he's not going to manage it again. He's admitted that Lewis is a better driver than him and now I imagine he see's it as an opportunity to move on to something else.

If you don't think your the fastest in the world then you don't belong at the top of the game, say what you want about Hamilton, Verstappen or Vettel but they're all racers and will do whatever it takes to win. There's many that have come long before them with that same grit and its the reason that their names are the ones etched in history.

I respect the guy for making the choice to step back personally even though I'm not a fan of his.

Amen to that! too much politics and bullshit these days for me, I always go and watch classics or endurance racing these days for my racing :)

What's your problem ?
Pardon again?
Sean mate are you having trouble understanding what I typed as it was not criticizing Rosberg at all in fact if you read it properly you will see it is directed at Hamilton and the last bit was directed at Clarkson

Ah, ok - my bad - I assumed (without names) that you were referring to Rosberg as I don't follow these prima-donna's and their little tantrums.

Why wouldn't he do it again? Not the fastest racer, proven he's the better driver this year by winning.

He beat his team mate fair and square even though he's 'better'.

My view of this years F1.

Rosberg won the season by being consistent and being determined. Not because he was the faster driver, although there is very little in it. Hamilton has the ability to pull off a fast qualifying lap when it counts and produce fast laps when he is happy with the car. His starts have really let him down and he has been unlucky with reliability. He is not very efficient when overtaking when compared to the redbull's that are superb at this. He can get stuck behind slower cars for far too long. Rosberg won only 9 races but won the championship because he consistently got the points. If Hamilton hadn't been as unlucky with the car and had not messed up the starts he would have won again with no problem.

Redbull are not far behind now so here's hoping for some closer racing next year. Any predictions to replace Rosberg?

As hinted at in my last post he hasn't got the right mentality, no one on that grid should be able to admit that another driver is faster than them.

He has really only been racing against his teammate this season with the performance differences between teams, and ultimately won not by being the best driver on the grid but by being in the right team and consistently good. Being consistently good is just like being any other driver on that grid and does not make a driver great, and in my opinion a worthy world champion. I will open a tin of worms here and say that I don't think Jenson Button deserved be a world champion as much as I like the guy.

Rosberg doesn't have that X factor for want of a better word that is required to be a world champion. Having less mechanical issues doesn't make him the better driver (in my opinion).

He knows he's had some luck on his side and the performance gap is only going to be smaller next year with various changes being made and the performance divide diminishing. I'll speculate that the world title is going to be a lot harder fought next year compared to this year and he doesn't have what it takes.

All of the above is just an opinion at the end of day though. I take it you obviously believe he's more than capable?

Hes pushed Hamilton all the way this year, hes beaten him when they both haven't had issues. He deserves it.

I'm not a lewis fan, he's fast, however he acts like a spoilt child, will seem better in the history books of the future as he's had it relatively easy for 3 years when there was only one other car on the grid that could keep up.

He's said lewis is faster, however has still beat him. To beat your enemy you need to respect and understand them.

Agreed with Franky - I can't like or respect Hamilton and it was that way with Schumie too - greatness ruined by an overbearing arrogance.

He's said Lewis is faster.....that's just being nice when you leave the stage with the trophy in your hands.

Unusually I agree entirely with Sean. I have been saddened by the commercial/media arrogance of modern F1 drivers in loss of the pure 'competiveness' of racing. I suppose sadly that it is the modern way and will probably get even worse.

Needs fresh meat - Maxie and co should liven it up because they won't sit behind the big names and 'behave', they won't wait for blue flags either....attack, attack, attack !

This doesn't make us friends tho, rest assured ;)
