Rocker covers and oil caps

I must be really bored if I've started thinking about the different types of rocker covers and oil caps.

I have seen a couple of different rocker covers but how many are there? and what year of cars were they fitted to?

Also, something I wasn't aware of until recently is the different oil caps. I believe there are 3 types but what engines/year of cars were they fitted to? There are a few stories behind the elephant caps but what is true?
