Remaining Z's in the UK.

Seems that relative number of early 'Z's here in the UK & Northern Ireland has moved upwardly over the early quarters of 2016. Licenced' numbers (looking at howmanyleft.com) indicate;

240z - 187
260z -57
260 2+2 - 26

Not really many in any group. Still though significant 'and perhaps' startling increases across the board. Most will be attributable to LHD imports and otherwise imports from AU & SA in general. I do however wonder how many genuine originally UK registered cars remain? Is there any way this can be determined? and beyond that of those which do remain largely unmodified?

I did notice on the site that there is a tab for new registrations.
Shows 27 new for 2015 and 10 for 2016
You would kind of thought that with the number of imported cars that come up on eBay for
sale the number would be higher?
I would be interested to know how many dating letters the club as done each year
As I guess anyone registering a car will have needed one to get an age related plate?

I registered 5 in 2015 and 1 in 2016. I like to think I did my bit :)

Dating letters are not required. Just the original registration document from the country you bought the car.

Who would admist to having cannibalising a UK car to convert an import ?

And surely you meant Zs and not early Zs.....later cars not on your list being ZXs ?

One reason the numbers may have shown an increase is that the NI cars are now included, whereas they were previous marked as Exported due to NI having its own DVLA in Coleraine which has now gone.

The few S30 Fairlady Zs around won't be included in the totals either, depending on how they are registered. Mine is registered as a Nissan.

You can't get them registered until it has Mot and tax and insurance so some will be in the process of restoration etc

Mine has been here since July 2015 and not even MOT'd yet ... just like owning it and doing things to it (slowly) ... all this driving rubbish can wait. :D

Yep. Mine is now just a large collection of parts - kinda like the start of a lego kit, but rustier.

Let's not forget the ones that might not have been taken off of the system yet because people put them in lampposts

Does the club not have a register of cars ?
Rob Gaskin ?
Full members give details of their cars on joining from memory.

I know someone from CZR is trying to do the same, maybe we could pool resources ?

Yes, we have a record but it''s only as accurate as the details 'ZCLUB members' have provided and kept updated.

But why is the statistical number and split important? Doesn't make a particular model more desirable or valuable just coz it's rare?

As far as I can see it is not possible for members to update or edit the details of their cars as function on website doesn't work anyway so guess it may well be out of date and inaccurate. We have to start somewhere though

What is your ' educated ' guess then in reply to Stockdales original question of UK origin RHD cars left ( in road going original...ish condition ) ?

Using mix of Pareto principle UK versus imports, grapevine and finger in the air I am going to say 130 ?

I believe there were 1611 x 240Z sold in UK so this represents just 8% of total left.

What is surprising ( and alarming ) is that of the 899 x 260Z 2 seater cars sold here only around 50 ( subtracted a few imports ) are still registered which is only 5.5% of total

Some people have an interest for such detail, facts and figures just through having enquiring minds. Nobody has mentioned value or desirability as far as I can see so far.

Course rarity does not equate with value, case in point the 260Z 2+2 is the rarest beast of them all despite outselling the other two models when new .

Chris, I'm not at home at the moment so I can't access the database.

Chris, If I remember correctly I think the figure for 260Z's was around 37 about 2 years back, today it stands at 57, add to that the cars that have been imported but are still being rebuilt so not yet on the list and it looks like we've imported quite a few over the last couple of years.
