R200 diff failure!!

Yeah......but do you drive it...........and drive it hard ? Proof.....videos, cups at Santa Pod ?:p

I don't drive mine as much as I'd like to, but I do drive it hard, the S13 gearbox I used was cleaned and checked through before the conversion, the diff was just put in, although I did take the back off and inspect the gear teath etc. that said, I think the R200 is strong enough to take most punishment with the carrier cross pin welded. drive shafts and stub axles are the weak point as far as I can see, I was talking to Pmac about a Z32 Lsd conversion which would do away with all of these problems. I may still do this in the future drive shafts are the problem with this conversion.

The previous owner of my 2+2 V8 went through two R200 diffs before going to a Jag IRS setup. Not sure if it was the diff or the mounts that were the weak point. I do like the idea of welding up the weak link though.

FFS, this is 30 plus year engineering, its done bloody well considering the years of abuse diffs etc get. Get real Nissan/Datsun did bloody well to design such drive train that has stood up to the test of time. Common scense would state, more power = more wear = regular replacement as every item has a max tollerance and wear.

Not had much of a chance to drive it in a while. I have bought a new toy recently (Suzuki GSXR 1000) and am enjoying a bit of freedom out on the roads!
Also building Datsun Dave's Skyline engine is taking up a lot of my spare time (Not too long now).
Last time out around Oulton Park, I was upsetting an Aston Martin Vanquish.

You'd upset me as well if you got too close to my Vanquish in your rusty old Datsun :D

Agreed - 'cept that it's 40+ years old and was designed well before that !

Astons are heavy old beasts - what about more nimble competition ?:p

Nice one Centurion - this is what I'm talking about 'proof', photos, videos......sketch drawings for the slower amongst you......

Nice picture Rob!
Will have to be next year for the proof guys, funds don't allow for the time being.
Mark Warby can verify the performance, as he has been in the passenger seat last time out!
