Project 240 ZVR

Amazing! :D You even posted the photos before I asked for them... now thats good service! :D

hehe :D

Keep up the good work!

Nice work Wyn, cossie T5 looks spot on, how's the engine mount side of things looking?

Cheers,
Rob

Nice one Wynn !!!! That should be a great drive, similar weight to a TVR but should be able to get it to handle better. Way to go that man !!!!

If you can retain the sound that will be absolutely awesome !!

Right, this is about where it's going to go me thinks :D

(Best try the bonnet next lol)

Mounts aren't to far out as it goes, should be able to use the org Z mount n adapt of that.
Gearbox is another story tho lol, those are miles out!
Need to get the engine bolted in 1st n then be able to see what's what.

Will say one thing, deffo amazed how many things seem to fall into place :)

Look like these headers are even right. Will try use them for now as it saves on any more costs.

Exhaust note should be interesting, sort of std Chimaera but louder lol :D

Hehehe... where are you in the UK? When can we all come and look at this beast? Oh err... that came out a little wrong! :D

Ummm, don't forget your radiator and fan ;)

Looks great though, burble land here you come!!

Cheers,
Rob

Located in Aylesbury
You're welcome to lend a hand :D
esp now as I've got to work out the wiring etc lol

Rad n fans are another story aswell, might look at the TVR rad n see if that'll fit. If not I'm sure I can find summert :)

Rob last interesting one was an R34 engine from a T plate car
made 2.5k tho for the complete engine, inc turbos
To dear for me anyway lol
Few other later TVR's about, but then the price got to much for me, so I just settled for a humble 96 4.0 Chimaera unit.
I can live with that tho

I must say I'm with Sean on this one, I have never liked those engines when it comes to looks, the inlet manifold is made from playdo, and the wiring is a mess. However the sound will easily make up for it.

Thats some progress Wyn! Tonight I swept up my garage and took out the old brake hoses and I thought I was making good progress! In that time you've changed the engine twice lol.

I'm amazed at how well it's all fitting as well, good for you. Don't forget the radiator though, those zorst manifolds look like they may well boil the coolant.

Well done on all the pics, makes the whole thread much more interesting.

I await the next post!

Cheers Russ
Don't worry about the rads peeps, if needs be it will live the other side of the frt panel.
Me "MAN" dropped around tonight n assured me the mounts shouldn't be a prob, n if needs be those manifolds shouldn't be a prob either. Shouldn't be too hard to shorten the length by an an inch or so just after where they all collect.

as pic ;)

I believe him :D

You don't have a real 9-5 job do you Wyn? :D I'm expecting pics to entertain me while I'm at work! :D

Ok guys, having seen the photos of polished V8s, I'll stop my comments - do you really believe that they look better than a 280ZX engine ??? No better, no worse but they are in a 240 - simple, strong car, simple, strong engine !

Great work and photos are really interesting and power per pound, no argument but on looks.........

lol, 8 - 5.50 as it goes ;)

Not much to photo atm until I get me a few more bits
But I've now just got the fan belt n the rest of the TVR exhaust lol :D
Hoping to have the info on the wiring tomorrow from the local TVR peeps
Brian @ Top Cat Racing, very helpful chap n knows his V8's

Crikey, they are long hours! I thought 9-5:30 was bad!

How about a photo of you posing next to an exhaust or something? :D

Fascinating fact no’ ...185692

A 240z gearbox mount bolts straight onto a Cossie T5 gearbox

There is a god

Fair play to you Wynn. As you are working so fast at it, would you kindly get a move on so you can get round here and help me with mine :D

"A 240z gearbox mount bolts straight onto a Cossie T5 gearbox

JAMMY SOD :D

Now they have been sold to the Russian dude should that not moer accurately be a ZVRski ?

You will have that up and running in no time at all - a lesson in what is achievable in the hybrid world in a very short space of time. Looking forward to seeing it !

lol, get mine sorted 1st n then I intend to use it so you might have a wait lol
Getting it in the hole is the easy bit tho
Things are starting to slow down now, lots of fab jobs that I have to wait for others help with :D

And just to prove a point re Cossie/Z x members ....
I could have used it like that, but it pushed the mota to far forwards for my liking ........

box7.jpg

.........plus it shoved the gearlever right to the frt again :(

So it looks like I've settled for a in between mount.

Fab mount to follow....
Sort of how you see it now, but a bit more different, shame as the above was pukka :D

Wyn, you might want to check out the US 280ZX Turbo, that had a T5 box and it's cross member was slightly different, shifted things back an inch or so, not sure if that's enough for you mind.

Aha!
http://www.geocities.com/row4navy/T5swap.html
One at the top is the ZX mount, you most likely recognise the one at the bottom. Depending on your urgency ('cos you're really slow about things ;)) you might want to pop a post on http://www.classiczcars.com or http://www.hybridz.org to see if someone would sell you one.

I'm keeping my eye on this part as I've got a T5 from a Z31 300ZX that will no doubt be a pain for me to fit too!

Cheers,
Rob
