New to 260Z ownership

So what's the plan? A stocker or modded tel ?

Please don't put that g.nose on it  orrid looking things :smash:

Well
i bought this car because it was close to me and i have never had a 260Z, the price was right (dont ask) and it a bit like being a kid and waiting for Christmas, after having a play a good jet wash down and a study of the paperwork i'm certain thats it a genuine 61,000 miles with 4 owners, got a bit confused today when having a little tune up as when i first see it i thought it had 240z carbs on but then today i realized they was not, but not 260z flat tops either, done a bit of research and i think there jag hd8 su's never had these before but done a quick tune up of them found the ignition timing at 2 degrees ATDC set that to 10 BTDC tell you what i can see what they mean about a late 260 z drives well, the doors shut like a modern car the throttle is so responsive (probably down to the carbs) and the gearbox and diff sound and feel like a 60,000 mile car what makes it feel great that the cockpit it totally unmolested down to the rear defogger warning lamp working and the Hitachi radio cassette working, its great to see it tuning itself mechanically, answer to you question Wyn after driving it today it was such an easy driver i'm looking at keeping it as my daily driver, ratty on the outside but mint on the inside, its had some good welding done by fourways to the lower inner wings and front foot wells and new full outer sills, also came with 2 NOS front wings and must have had replacement rear arches in its time ,looking forward to doing this and using it most days without worrying, i'll post some more pics soon of the carbs and the nice mans coilovers polybushed front suspension and 4 pot calipers

Hi Terry, I had HD8s (off a Rover TC) on my track car - I liked them as most people know. Not sure your's are HD8s though, they look like 1.75" carbs to me not 2". It also looks like you have the Tokico 'easily coil-bound' springs too.

Looks to have lots of potential to be a decent car, I bet you don't leave it 'ratty on the outside'.

Yes your right Rob after a bitt of resrarch there hs 6 1.75 used on a triumph 2.5 straigt six, as for the springs there coil overs but have quite small springs but loads of thread to go longer, to much work to paint it Rob besides i want to drive it

Car looks great Tel, cracking basis for a project. Look forward to more pics. Be nice to see it stay the same colour, as not to many about.

Only problem with 260Z's are some of the 240Z's guy like to knock them because they are not 240Z's.

Carbs look the same as I had on mine, but that doesn't indicate much because mine had previously had triple webers its likely the ones put back on were not the originals.

I trust you are finding the interior slightly better in the 260 compared to 240's.

Also, if Admin see this, it would be good to know why I've lost my membership? I can no longer edit posts or have an Avatar. I never got anything saying my membership was up, as far as I know its not?

Yes Ian your membership has now expired. I'm behind with reminders and it seems the system hasn't sent you one either. Sorry. This is one reason I'm thinking of making the renewal date the same for everyone.

What I would add is that basically if you go black and revert to Website member it's notification (but not very personal I know) that it's time to renew.

Yes Ian i am finding it very nice and i think part of it is that its never been apart as far as i can tell, its quite enjoyable to see all the little screws in there original places

Took the passenger seat out today and was well pleased with the inner sill and rear floor

Had a little test of the hitachi radio cassete today, impressed that it still works, even auto tunes itself, its well 70s waching the tuning knob go round as the frquency pointer goes up and its scale until it finds20161122_160159.jpg20161122_160205.jpg a station
