Hi everyone,

I have been the proud owner of my 1972 240z for 17 years and love it, they are fantastic cars and thought it was high time i joined a club of like minded people so here I am.

Hoping to get involved in meets etc.
Anyone from Lincolnshire with a 240z?

Richard.

Hello Richard welcome to the Club and yes there are a few members reasonably close to you, Moggy240 springs immediately to mind but there are others.

How have you managed for 17 years on your own? What have you done with the car both from a driving point of view and also from a maintenance aspect.

I've been to Cadwell Park twice in my 240Zs and we have members (Amorace and racer) who have raced there, that's very close to you isn't it.

We'll get New Member's Pack to you soon.

Hi Richard,

There are always plenty of meet-ups and shows going on. We have Japfest 2 at Donnington Park 17th August @ only £13/ticket which I am about to book for these guys, and then theres TRAX at Silverstone on the 7th September, but if you want track time with that, I need to know TODAY!

Head on into the Shows and events section, there is LOADS, LakeZ, Zedfest etc :)

Photo of 240z

Here is a photo of my car.

I found it in 1997 after many years of searching. Uk registered in 1972 but it is slightly earlier as it has fibreglass headlight surrounds and a vertical demister element in taildoor.
It had been stored in a dry garage since new and left there until i saw an advert in the classic car mart saying "Datsun 240Z, right price to the right person".
That is all it said so I rang the gentleman who owned it and all he kept saying is come and look at it but would not tell me anymore details or cost so I went down to Surrey to take a look ( 200 miles there and 200 miles back) so a bit risky on just a hunch.
When I got there there was no sign of the car but he did invite me in for breakfast and kept me talking for 2 hours as by then I realised I was being interviewed to find out if I was the right person to take his car. He explained that he bought the car brand new and ran it down to Italy a few times that summer because of his job and after a short while on the road he was given a company car and the 240Z was taken off the road and put in his garage where it stayed until I got there.
He explained that he had been offered £10,000 by one dealer and a little more by another so my heart sank as I didn't have that sort of money available to me at the time.
When we went into his garage the car could not be seen as it was covered in old carpets, boxes and general rubbish.
Things all cleared away I saw a none molested car in very good order with no rot but scratched a little in places due to the way it was kept.
After telling him I could not afford it he then told me I could have it for £1,500 providing he saw the car again as it was when new.
To renovate it took very little but I did give it a very nice respray in original colour, washed the engine compartment, fitted new carpets, recored the radiator, changed the exhaust to stainless but still have original factory one in good order, put a new battery on and changed the wheels to alloy cross but still have the steel ones with some D hub caps.
I think this might be one of he most original 240Z that was registered in the UK but someone may correct me on that, for example it still has all the original brake pipes on it still in good order.

I have run out of time, lunch time over and I must get back to work but I will enjoy looking at other cars that other members have.

Richard.

Good find Richard and a great price too.

I have a similar (but '73) car, it too was stored for many years and is extremely original. I wonder if there are any more in barns?

As already said you need to get to Zedfest with your car.

Moggy240 are you the member that does the valuations for members?
Would it be possible to have my 240Z valued as my car is only marked down as market value for insurance and I have been advised to have it on an agreed value.
I noticed you are based not far from me in North Lincolnshire and if it is possible to have it valued would it be easier for me to bring the car to you rather than doing it through photos?

Richard.

Guys £1,500 17 years ago was still a great price for that car. There were not many around then either.
