Not that I'm an active poster or anything, but I find all the classified ads in the threads a pain in the arse!

The End.

been thinking the same thing take,s the flow away from the forum dont ya think???

martin

Aye from me too

I replied to 3 yesterday and they showed as 3 extra threads, instead of the same.

Although, we do need to promote the classifiedf more than a small box on the homepage

A Flow
Are you sure you don't mean a dribble ;)

In my opinion
a/We are the best actual Z Club in the Country
b/we have with out doubt the best Z website in the country
and c/the slowest and quietest Z Forum in the country its almost as if it was in the Desert there would be tumbleweed rolling all over it compared to the others

you're right Steve, it did stand out yesterday because of the high number but I do think they're a pain appearing amongst the regular threads. I think the place for them is solely in the classifieds.

As for a dribble I am afraid that is the best I can manage these days.

Lets look at this objectively

What was the reason the posts in the classifieds were changed from being hidden away to being shown as new threads and posts

Q/ What attracts prospective new sponsors and traders to offer services to a clubs forum

A/ If they see a busy forum being actively used and posted on and by a good % of the user
who visit the site it makes them more likely to support the club
The classified section is a much used section of the club that was hidden away that a potential trader would not necessarily bother to look in at to see how many members visit view and post in that section unless the posts are directly shown as new posts and threads

Conclusions

To attract more potential long term users from the initial first time visitors we need a busy vibrant forum and that is only done by the amount of current threads and posts there are.
When the new users come here there is masses of old posts for them to trawl through and it all looks vibrant and busy. After a couple of visits they have gone through all the old stuff some of them have decided to make a few posts and join in and then the thing seems to breakdown as there are not that many replies to their posts and they stop posting and disappear to other more active forums

Also one of the big problems we have is that the Z Club started out as a traditional car club and not an internet club and we seem to struggle to use it as the internet based clubs do and that is not only with a car related forum but also a general interest and social forum

Well its to wet today to go to Speakers Corner with my soap box so came here instead:flyingpig:

so do you mean then that the home page that we all see first looks better with a load of add,s in it that have no reply,s to them or topics that ppl are chatting about and getting involved in albeit a bit drippy rather than flowing????????????????

martin

O and also the add,s are above in the classifieds part too, i think it looks like nobody,s home

martin

Like I posted in the earlier thread it as only really happen once when 16 adds were posted at the same time as normally there only is one or two classifieds amonst the new posts

One of the advantages of having the classifieds top ten listing at the top of the page it shows at a first glance to new users how many views a each add has

i know so why repeat it in the section below?? where very little will happen to the post???

martin

Sure, a wadge of 16 ads highlights that they are dominant and they are all books and all from the same seller - no probs with that. But since they are already listed in the 'top ten' new ones - they shouldn't be repeated in the threads and you can't convince me of otherwise.

If it was suggested that they appear in the threads then remove the 'top ten' - simple ! Better still, and just to complicate Russ' work further, use the 'tope ten' slot for a random selection of cars and parts for sale just to attract people !

Make your mind up old man - when I was looking after it you wanted it to be part of the forum !!

I still do want it as a section of the main forum, not hidden away under an obscure drop down menu. No change there.
But it doesnt look good when it dominates everything else on the main page either. IMO
But TBH Im not really that bothered these days.I only have a few more new screens to sell and not much else:unsure: So I will just take the hint and get me coat........;)

irritating.

I find the 'in yer face' & all over the place classified add'z untidy & messy!
they should be in there place & not in one'z face!
all one'z gotto do iz click classifiedz if one wantz to.:)
