Lime 112 240Z restoration

...... Note even the rubber O rings being installed on the steering arms

learnt something yesterday the 2 bolts that bolt the steering arm to the strut are different lengths

Lovely car Terry it will be a stunner.

Yep when working on my springs on Thursday I still have the rubber rings (reckon 1973 !) and yes bolts different lengths. Quite a coincidence because I was surprised too.

Yep did the o rings. Didn't note a different length in bolts though? Got me worried now.

One thing I gave up on though was trying to install the compression rods, think I will wait until the engine is in before i give it another go.

Connect the compression rod to the body then arm. Fix the ball joint to the arm and have the strutt attached at the top and hanging. Pull the arm down to allow the strutt to go over the balljoint and bolt up. Not sure how difficult it is to connect the compression rod after the rest is fixed.

Looking good Terry won't be long now  soon be starting the next one
all your cars are very different with what you've done and all a credit to you :bow:

Derrick;)

Tried that to begin with but couldn't bring the arm down enough to get the leg onto the ball joint. So decided to unbolt the compression rod and attach the leg. Now I can't compress the leg enough so I'm thinking I will have to wait till the engine is in. I remember having this problem when I changed the bushes on the compression rod to polyurethane.

I disconnected my compression rods at the stut end recently when changing my springs. Reconnected it by jacking the arm up until the rod was near horizontal and aligning the holes with a big 'phillips' screwdriver.

It just shows you how unnatural it is for the arm to move through the full travel of the suspension. Not a great idea is it - that bush at the body end, especially on a rally car? No wonder folks fit rose-joints etc.
