I need about 5k, soul for sale

Half the point is to look out of place. I could go buy a modern saloon for the same money if I wanted to blend in. Or you could drive a 240Z - a very exclusive club that and very out of place !

Most people seem to be missing the point, the car will probably never go about 70mph and will just cruise around. It's not the 60s and it's not America, it's all about the sound, the infinite torque available, the cars bloody 50 years old :) It's for burning up a little bit from the lights, stop comparing it to Zs! That's why I like them as well, different cars, different moods, different days

Yep, still sounds like wanting a 2ft penis - VERY impressive but effing useless for one of it's main roles !.

All this silly day dreaming doesn't cost me anything Sean, it's nice to have a dream no? It all fits into the "I hope I achieve this before I die" plan. I've got motorbikes for clearing my head and fun (and economy it turns out, and still trying to get every corner right), a 300zx for when I just want it to work, I'd love a van/pickup/truck of some sort so I could load crap in it (including the bikes), a 240 for road pose and track, and a big yank for just listening to the engine tunes and looking cool. I don't have a big v8 to play with, I can't think of anything I'd sooner have one in. I only like twins when it comes to bikes really, I see the v8 as the car equivalent of that. Yeah I'd love a screaming straight 6, but I'd still be missing some low notes in my garage orchestra

Get the Z first - then see ! I'll admit that I've drifted past the age of dreaming - yeah, I'd love a Muira but honestly, I get all the adrenaline outa my Z and it starts first time, doesn't drip oil and costs basically nothing in maintenance from year to year !

Plus if I had a charger I'd never had afforded to take a girl out in the first place... and there's plenty of room in a charger, why be all boring and wait till you get home.

Buy the home first and see what's more attractive to a girl - a shag on the cold vinyl bench seat or .......

I had a house at 18 and I did better and had a LOT more varied fun than my mates and their better cars than mine - I had an Austin 1300 !

[/quote]

My point is get the Z running and get the house THEN come back and tell us that you're still not satisfied in either cars or female company !:D

Oh come on - lets not turn this into a "compared to a Zed" please.

It nice to have a discussion about cars other than Zeds once in a while :)

Well let Russ drive a proper 240Z first.......but if you insist, make make my dream a Muira, a McLaren F1 and an R32.

I always liked the Challenger in Vanishing Point.

Russ - fly over for Easter Weekend, my family isn't here so we can drink good wine, BBQ and Sunday is a track day (2 hrs hard) so come on over !

I am an early Z series man through & through, but its like with women the grass can look greener on the other side ;). Never had the nerve to buy a late 60's early 70's yank but must admit I fancy loads of them including mustang's, camaro's, trans am's etc, I think top of my list would be the Charger but I guess I would look & feel a right prick driving it .

oh for effs' sake - everyone wants a Charger, Russ says "Half the point is to look out of place..." but then you aint with one are you but of course everyone will come up ans say "great car man...innit" !

You're just buying a pat on the back as being one of the guys !

Buy an AMX Javelin.....don't see many of those around eh ?

"....Engines included a four-barrel 401 cu in (6.6 L) AMC V8 with high compression ratio, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods engineered for 8000 rpm......."

Better looking interior too !

javelin, a pony car for the Z enthusiast - Charger and 'stangs - for the MG and Spitfire brigades.......

Man oh man...

Yep, still sounds like wanting a 2ft penis - VERY impressive

but effing useless for one of it's main roles !.

Which role is a Charger effing useless at? Making a guy who grew up lusting after a car happy?

Get the Z first - then see ! I'll admit that I've drifted past the age of dreaming - yeah, I'd love a Muira but honestly, I get all the adrenaline outa my Z and it starts first time, doesn't drip oil and costs basically nothing in maintenance from year to year !

I'm sorry your dreams haven't been realised yet, don't give up yet there's still time. We don't all have practical dreams, they sound very dull. I'd love an old brit bike, it'll leak oil, but it wouldn't be a brit bike if it didn't.

Buy the home first and see what's more attractive to a girl - a shag on the cold vinyl bench seat or .......

She'd want both.

I had a house at 18 and I did better and had a LOT more varied fun than my mates and their better cars than mine - I had an Austin 1300 !

It's 2009, times change. At 18 I was dragging my ass through university with the hope I could one day I could buy a charger and fulfil other ambitions, I didn't want to be pumping most of my cash into a mortgage.

My point is get the Z running and get the house THEN come back and tell us that you're still not satisfied in either cars or female company !

I plan to do that, whilst still thinking "wouldn't it be nice", that doesn't cost anything nor does it prevent you achieving your short term goals.

oh for effs' sake - everyone wants a Charger, Russ says "Half the point is to look out of place..." but then you aint with one are you but of course everyone will come up ans say "great car man...innit" !

Maybe they will, same as they do to 240s :conf2: The old boys out the body shop would say "Wow, now that's some American muscle" and appreciate it for a different way. Who cares, I'd buy it for me not for everyone else. I'm sure there's more pose value in a lot of other (cheaper) cars if that were my end game.

Yeah I think the same, but you get over it and then you learn the mentality of "why am I going to let over peoples opinions ruin my fun? I'm not a very attention seeking person (bikes rock, with your lid on you're totally anonymous. But I bought a 300zx targa with a bit of a noisey pipe on it and at first I wouldn't take the roof out (because that really is showey), then I did it a few times and loved it and thought "sod em, this is fun" and after you realise no one else on the planet gives a monkeys about you the problem goes away :)

Well let Russ drive a proper 240Z first.......but if you insist, make make my dream a Muira, a McLaren F1 and an R32.

Miura is way up on my list should I ever stumble upon a whole heap of money!! But I don't dream about that as I don't think it's achievable.

Russ - fly over for Easter Weekend, my family isn't here so we can drink good wine, BBQ and Sunday is a track day (2 hrs hard) so come on over !

I'd very much love to and appreciate the offer, but I'm a few weeks away from landing my house to wave my 2ft penis around in and need to hold onto all my money :( Probably even gonna have to bail on Japfest :( Gutted about that one, really wanted to see the different between my 2+2 targa I took last time and my 2 seater slicktop!!

Anyway I enjoy debate, no bad feelings intended in any direction, it's good we're all different and I appreciate your concern I could be spending too much time thinking about things and not doing them!

Oh and AMX Javelin

Never really heard of them tbh, looks like I need to get a mullet and a vest though to drive it. Not cool.

And just to end on a high note, another picture!

Such a pretty old girl! I think though the old school wheel sizes and tyres would have to go for me, just doesn't really sit happily in my eyes. The thing about the 68 I love is the hidden lights (very bad ass) and unlike the 69 there is no separating silver part right in the middle. I know it's about as wrong as you can get aerodynamically lol, but it'll never get races so who cares!

Don't like them as much as that, you could buy a nice Aston or Porsche for that kind of brass.

Wow that that really is lovely, and I might even give up my "68 or nothing" mantra for it! However definitely too rich for my blood, if funds allowed one day I could in my head justify £20-£25k (that's wishful thinking btw), but £58k!

I could buy a collectin of classic bikes AND a good Charger for that.
Or I could have my 1988 911 Turbo (still not sure about it, like the Tamiya model though lol) and a Charger
OR better still working 240z AND a Charger

There isn't £38k extra value in that one for me, but nice to perv at all the same

Now, if you want to discuss in general, fantastic US automotive styling, I'm with you there - I also love the single look front end and the sloping rear 1/4s - there are so many angles and views of US cars that I adore and another 'nice to have' would be the FORD LTD woody station wagon.

Ahhh ok lets take that route, 66/67 dash on a charger

Fancy!

In fact a 66 might be the way forward

I hope I find oil in my back garden.

Nah 68 for the win...

You're gonna have to come back now with pics of said FORD LTD woody, as they've never really been my bag, remind me of a Morris Traveller (there, I threw down the gauntlet!) :)

No pictures 'cos I'm on the road but that '66 is awful, reminds me of the blue (Chevy Nova ?) in the film Abigale Wanted - no character at all - in fact it reminds me more of a continental Ford Cortina MKIII on slope-back version (Taunus) which, with a V8 inside would be a better bet !

For dashes, most muscle cars look no better than said Ford Cortina, a large strip of poor wood-looking plastic. I prefer the '66 (I think, or '63) Ford T-bird - something that came straight out of Gerry Andersons' Stingray !

The Ford is a 7.2 litre, imagine something like Mad Maxs' black estate in his first film when he visits Aunt ? !
