Hilux brake mods yet again!

I am not sure that you are right there.

I don't agree either, A bigger vented disc/caliper and pad will disperse heat far more efficiently than the standard single pot caliper/solid disc and smaller pads fitted to the Z as standard.

Energy is dissipated in the form of heat, so a bigger pad and disc will be a bigger source of heat but not as hot for the same retardation. That sounds like I know what I'm talking about - shoot me down folks.

So they wont get as hot in the first place which is kind of the whole point of fitting them surely :D.

Bigger pads will just create more heat - they're not the answer !

Thanks Rob (again) - I think you know what I mean.

People put bigger calipers on and therefore bigger pads to give them more braking area.

JUST bigger pads won't work - they just get hotter.

One needs vented discs to go with them and then add all the rest (master cylinder, fluid, lines, even air-ducting).

And I still maintain that brakes should be light 'cos they're mounted 'on the wheel' so any extra weight has to be countered for in handling etc !

That said, if some on very limited budgets want to prowl around in breakers' yards for age-old rusty, heavy bits to fit on their beautiful cars - go ahead but one gets what one pays for.

Always have braking in reserve !
