'G-nose' $30k

...and who said the 'short nose' had a problem with cooling in race configuration.

Factory spent a lot of time reducing cooling effect on factory race cars...

And then stopped when the G-nose came along.

It's interesting how many people misunderstand what the HS30-H model was for, and what it allowed Nissan to do.

Those homologated parts also allowed evolutions and extensions to be based upon them...

If you're looking solely at the road cars, you'll never understand the race cars.

Don't care about the road cars - it's the racing application that excites me and you haven't listed all the advantages of a G-nose and the evolutions/extensions !

Wider wheels and tyres
greater front downforce

and ?:driving:

Going back to the aesthetics, I've never been too sure that I like the look of the G-nose. I think I would if I hadn't seen the original look first. But I love the look of the standard front end :)

Both - have to have one of each.

Like having a Skyline R30 race car and R32 for bimbling.

Garage sale ?

No, it's all stuff I 'need'. Or at least I did 5 years ago and I might still...

To be fair, I have a lot of tools and spare bits for my car, plus a set of summer & winter wheels for both our daily drives, etc.

I could probably dump a load of bits of wood and tins of paint that 'might be useful in the future' though!

A squirrel habit ?

The Z34 needs some more mature company....look here at my place this afternoon !

It's interesting how many people misunderstand what the HS30-H model was for, and what it allowed Nissan to do.

Like all homologation specials, it was sold to the general public with the specific intention of legalising parts for race use. In doing so, it allowed the factory - and privateers should they be so blessed/connected/wealthy - to use parts that were extensions of, and attached to, the homologated parts. Those homologated parts also allowed evolutions and extensions to be based upon them...

Nissan's showroom model HS30-H was never sold with an airdam/front spoiler, but the Grande Nose was designed to be used in competition with exactly that. If you're looking solely at the road cars, you'll never understand the race cars.

Can I take my previous answer and get a half point? As being the reason it was a homologation model, well technical reasons for?

I couple of simple questions were asked, and I answered them. I don't think I need to give chapter and verse on anything else. If you want to know more about the Grande Nose then I invite you to research what I've written elsewhere in the past, as the topic has been discussed many times.

No, 'cos that was so bleedin' obvious ! Just look at any manufacturer - they all did it and for the same reasons - competition.

And that's what's stuck in my head from reading that. Oh well....it well looks like more efficient cooling to me......:D

From someone who claims it was for cooling I can't take your answer.

Yes, competition, where they need better aero? Keep up:D

Do you think it really looks like an attempt to gain extra cooling for competition cars? Nissan had spent the previous year and a half trying to restrict the amount of air going through the front of the car, for aerodynamic reasons.

They didn't have any problem with cooling them!
