We had a couple of Teslars competing at Crystal Palace last year and it was weird watching them leaving tyre marks off the line, with the only noise being the chirp off the tyres.
Performance was quite impressive, and the quickest one set a 38.5s.
To compare the 240Z ran 48.06 and the Escorts (heavily modified) were around the 39s mark
The only thing was that they were recharging between runs....(and using a Petrol generator )
This of course brings up the argument regarding Electric not being cleaner if you have to burn Oil/coal to generate in the first place.
If they can get the performance and a decent range between charges then things could become interesting and if the MSA can sort out the nightmare of class structures we could start to see races for them.
I'm sure that's just for illustratation perposes, the real one will have mirrors. It's the same in my business, all of the fancy illustrations of nice hi-fi or tv setups are imazingly 'cable-less'!
I can forsee many pedestrian deaths with these silent cars
370 plus GT-R roofline (from A-Pillars) minus overhang and a front that looks like a mash-up of an old Corvette Stingray and an RX8. I love it. Barmy concept cars are always designed to be marmite. It evokes discussion and thinking. Building one to sell for under £40k will be the trick. Unless they can lick the price under a Cayman it's all just academic. People would much rather buy a German car for status rather than a really cool Japanese car (because people are stupid).
A bit late as BMW reckon that they will be releasing a new supercar in the next few years that does almost 90mpg with zero tax payable...eleccy/diesel hybrid I think...
