without fruit it's a sponge not a cake surely?
Keeping it ‘yellow’ Lemon drizzle cake only has lemon juice so should we be calling that a sponge?
Plus much easier to contribute to these posts than the ‘how to tune a carb’ techy ones😬

Well a sponge is a type of cake, as is a fruitcake or a Jaffa😁cake for that matter....

The definition as.farbas I can see.boils down to ia baked or fried item made from flour eggs, sugar and fat (though a fatless sponge gives that a lie), named by the additional ingredients (birthday?) So all are welcome - although some are not enjoyed by all

cream in a Cake is just wrong.....

It also distracts me.on my fruitless.internet trawl, as I ponder my last slices of birthday cake (repurposed Christmas cake)....
