3.1 engine done now...

Cheers Moggy, they do look better painted, and the lighter paint than the "standard" black, makes them stand out a bit.

Rob, Spoke to Chris (and Julian) on Friday, thinks they are zero offset (as changed the offset slightly from the Works originals for the 15"). Had a chat regards tyres, looks like 215/60/15 would do, only 10mm bigger dia. well under the advised +/- 2.5%. 205's would be a nice fit, but if I can squeeze a little wider and not have any detramental (sp) effects......more looking to do.

215 on a zero offset will be getting closer to the lip of the arch.

This may be an issue depending on how low the car sits and / or how much suspension travel you have.

Can you get good quality rubber in 215/60/15 ??

Can get the size in Toyo CF1, not quite in the same league as the T1R's etc, but.... more than likely go for some 205/60.. in CF1, Avon have ZV3 and ZV5 in that size, The ZV3 comes in a 225/60.. that has the same dia. as the 205/60 from their website, and "footprint" is the same as well. Misprint? Have yet to finish my search of tyre quality manufacturers.

Found some Yokohama's in their performance tyre range, c drive...I do like Yokohamas, so they look like the choice so far.

Hi Ian

For what it's worth, I run 225/50/15 Yokohama's on my 240, think it's the AO22. Can check later to confirm if it's any help.

Phil

Hi Phil,
Thanks for posting. From what I gather this size is 3.6% smaller than the stock dia. and outside the recommended +/- 2.5%. Thus affecting speedo reading/gearing and "looks" of filling the wheel arch. But since I am finding my feet a bit with wheel/tyre combos, does this size fill the wheel arch on your 240 (esp. on the front)?

datsun 240z 033.jpgHi Ian

speedo reading/gearing wasn't just a "rolling diameter " problem as my Diff runs a lower ratio anyway, resulting in a change of gearbox/speedo drive unit, as to tyres filling the arches, I've (hopefully) attached the best shot of my current set up. It's to my taste, but may not be to yours.

Thanks

Phil

Phil - nice looking car.

It's the view across the horizontal plane which shows up under-sized profile tyres. The vertical plane is easy to disguise by lowering the car.

A 50% ratio of the width gives 102.5mm. Multiply this X 2 + wheel = total diameter 586mm
A 60% ratio of the width gives 123mm........................................= total diameter 627mm

Difference of 41mm (20.5mm each side)

Personally speaking it is the rear arch which shows this off worse due to it's trailing curve shape.

For what it's worth, I run 225/50/15 Yokohama's

Ooop's:eek:
Sorry I did my maths on 205mm.................but anyway, you get the idea.

.........(I've had my dinner now)........................:smash:

So, 225/50 less noticeable as it gives a total diameter of 606mm.

For what its worth i run 225-50-15 and the speedo is spot on according to the several speed indicator notices around where i live, just thought id ad my 2 pence worth

Finally got my wheels back from painting and polishing last weekend (the chap doing the polishing decided to go to Australia for 5 wks).

Like Zedhead260, been too cold to venture outside to do the small jobs left, until today when trial fitted wheels and wheel nuts. Now waiting from bits to come back from being re-chromed.....

Also got some tyres...gone with Toyo CF1's
