3.1 engine done now...

Well, after being busy with other things, helping another couple of Z owners with their ones, finally got what I needed done before my 260z was picked up to be "finished off". Finshed off being wiring, tracking, headlight covers fitting, tailgate weatherstrip re-applied (as currently making tailgate sit too high), starting the engine up, and a few other small jobs inc. MOT. First time it has been out of it "restoration space" on its wheels, looks very good, that good, I for got to take any pictures! So nearly there.

be it and no-one is likely to see your Z anyway 'cept photos of in a garage on this forum.

Contary to what Sean says, some members have seen my Z in the flesh. It is a bit difficult for other people to see it, unless it has an MOT. Which it now has so, more people will see it. Now sitting back home, looking grand. Took a bit of time to sort out the list of jobs, bleeding the brakes was a long process, especially when you find a new brake master cylinder is minus an O ring, and fluid goes everywhere. Ride height sorted, as was sitting too high at the front.

A "new era" for me and my 260z anyway. A few teething problems to sort out and upgrades to come down the line. Engine sounds lovely with the twin pipe exhaust system. Look forward to driving her when insurance is sorted. The chap who delivered the car back says it goes like a "stabbed rat", and the torque just builds up from low rpm. Just what I wanted, torque all through the rev range

Now, another one of those pics of my z on the forum

Congratulations Ian, great job getting her on the road and I liked the ideas you've put into your build.

Another Z to hit the roads in 2010, awesome!

Great stuff Ian - wheels look good! Hope I get to see/hear it at one of the upcoming events this year: need to check out the twin pipe exhaust as one of those is back on my to-do list for this autumn/winter. :)

Congrats Ian,- not too loud I hope ?

Of course, this is just the start of the project (you already speak of upgrades and you've hardly driven her) as we all know when the car gets going !

It's also the start of the REAL testing - getting some serious miles under the belt and exploiting all that power and torque. There are of course proper places to do that as Mr Gaskin will tell us............

Well done.

no doubt on the fit, finish and engine on this mean machine.
but the colour, the front end and the wheels just don't seem to gel, imho.

but hey ho, if we all had the same taste how boring would that be........

Thanks all, it does feel good to have her back on the road (though not finished) after a long 17 years... will try and come along to a "do" but have other things on as well.

Cheers Sean, not that loud so far, a tad louder than Status's at tick over, and a slightly different sound, which hopefully will come more apparent when the rpm rise. Carb noise adds a fair bit compared to throttle bodies.

Rob, will pop over when insurance /tax sorted, though not around 24/25th. Your turn to finish :)

Will do Richiep, I have a couple of tweaks to suggest, which I may have done myself

Thanks again.

Sorry don't mean to speak out of turn, but not keen on the look of this car, each to their own I guess.

Very constructive comment Gwyn to your fellow Z Club Member who has completed their car after 17 years off the road!! Well done!

Its alright Samuri -240, alot of things people do with their Z's I don't particularly like, but I still see it as being another S30, though I don't say anything as its up to the owner.

You may not like these two shots either then ;) Both easily changed if I so desire...

Sorry about the terrible delay in picking this up (my fault entirely), but it looks like a superb job. Those stacked pipes have always looked great and the colour is sweet (is it Marron?). Would be great to get some vid footage up so we could hear them thar tubes in some angry heavy footing... And it's not been on the road for 17 years. That's half of my whole life. When it stopped I was pushing girls in the toilets at college and seeing how things panned out. Now your car has returned and then some. Superb. Superb indeed! Will be nice to see it 'in the metal'. That stance makes me feel all lush in my tummy.
