Harsh but true Sean....... Mention a 280Z to most people in UK that are classic enthusiasts but not Datsun savvy and they automatically think of ZX and it would be expensive if it was 2+2 hence justified in saying less desirable. Expensive for 4 speed ? Thought you liked higher prices, good for business ;) Will throw in a 200SX box in the price then. Low mileage original paint cars are the holy grail in classic world and as long as body in commensurate shape top of the price tree. Not to be confused with usual imports out of the States that have cheap blow over repaints where they don't bother to take off trim or take out glass so overspray on the rubbers etc.

Glad you like the silvery oak Franky ( how's the new business going ? ) come and have a play in the 280 whilst you're waiting for your car to get finished.

I thought that it was just here that 280Z is taken to be the succesor to the 260Z and therefore ZXs are mistakenly called 280Zs !

Higher prices when justified yes and I'd like to see 280Zs get that sort of money whether they be 4 or 5 spd but be careful as low mileage, orginal paint but modded are not so appreciated in the classic world...however, in the competing with a 240Z world to the recently awoken internet Z fan , a 280Z does it in my view.

As we say - bon continuation.

Howdy. Just finished the website, well about 90%.

Advertising in a glossy in a few weeks, see where it goes from there...

I think you're right about making the distinction. The 280z means people can get into that classic shape for much less cash than a 240z, also a car that's not been rebuilt inside out.

DIY mate - hardly rocket science and if you're fitting FRPs...not even that !

Sean It was just my feeble demonstration of '' it may be catching on'' and I sort of know its not rocket science , now tell me when you fit frp ones what is the rough process and did you get your hands dirty and any abrasions to them soft palms ;) cos £165 seems a fare plug and play deal, saves all that cutting and bending pieces of steel

Well, thje hard work is taking the original ones off especially the shockers - fitting others on is easy especially lightweight FRP jobbies.

Written in the ad you quoted :

Note: in order to use rear bumper, the bumper struts will either need to be removed, which requires the tai to be dropped, or the struts cut. ... Please remember struts are under pressure and are full of oil!!

£165 for some metal, a bit of time, paint and basically copying std 240Z brackets seems to me a bit of a luxury....

Probably Sean but there's a good 3 hours work there making all 4 of them, then there's the ball ache of f/glasing brackets on the back of the frp ones and you only get one chance or bodge (like I did  in a rush for spa) by bolting on from the outside then theres the fettling and painting of the frp ones, ŕeckon there's 2 days work there so depends on your day job revenue I guess most car oriented workshops look for £40 hour so that's £640, now I see you evaded my enquiry about getting hands dirty :D so for me on a nice 280z to keep it value up think I would suffer the £350 to have chrome bumpers all IMO
