260z

Seem to recognise that one !

Knowing that particular Dealer, he will be asking a pretty 'ambitious' price, so who's going to be brave enough to phone him to find out ?

But this is the ad I like :

Rare Datsun 160J SSS For Sale (1978) on Car And Classic UK

Anyone recognise the premises  and the price !!! Note the sills.............

Whats with the premises then? Home to a well known dealer, tuner?? As for car, they are getting very rare and hard to find in clean unrestored condition. Asking price is easily double whats its worth IMHO;).

I think I know the owner...has lots of rare and interesting datsun/nissan rally stuff. No Zeds though:devil:

You're having a laff ! If it was an early/mid '70s, I might agree somewhat towards you but if this is worth £4000 on the market, it'll be going some. Nothing interesting about it whatsoever.

If it's worth £9K, my Z is worth £40K but find the buyer !

You don't recognise the premises.......in Kent.......?

Sean, read again what I wrote:p...Its worth circa 1/2 asking price (tops),more like £3-4k in reality. There might be nought interesting to you,but they have a rallying pedigree and some folk pay for that. Besides,Z's are just so common:D:devil:, been done to death and easy to tune as most parts are virtually off the shelf! There are lots of Nissan enthusiasts who dont share the same soft spot for Zeds...prefer 510's,610's 160js,early skylines ....etc hence these cars achieve "reasonable" resale values.

A clean 4 door PA10 recently sold for GBP £8k:eek:. (Mk2 escort territory)

Nope, never been to Kent on a car related mission anyways...

So we're agreed on the price then. But no, this isn't an interesting car just because it has two doors less than another ! BTW, that one at Montpellier is up again for sale.............

And some Zs are being siold for easily over £20K so not everyone thinks that they've been done to death - common.....? Find me a less common mass-produced sportscar in Europe please.

Whats the deal then? I thought your mate bought it:unsure:..please send me a PM:thumbs:

By common, I was referring to within the classic Nissan family and not comparing with other manufacturers. If you look at the old skool models within the Nissan family which have a following , then zeds are common. Certainly in Europe and US. However in Japan, Aus, NZ, Africa, there is a bigger following for the 510s, 610,s 160js etc etc

Anyway BTT, the 260Z ^^^ is lovely, who is buying it?

They are asking for the 'lovely' 260Z no less than £16,500, would you believe !

That's nearly £7,000 more than it sold for six months ago, and it ain't had much done to it since then....

Sorry - can't be arsed with a PM - long week and I'm invited out so you've got it all here.

Car is as is, probably available for less and could be transported up here by my Z buddy if his expenses are covered plus a little smoother. The bodywork could be completely redone to your standard and taste here before being again trailored by a friend over to the UK for you to start assembling in your style and taste using all those rare bits you've got stored away in your loft and lock-ups ! Martin quotes €5000 which includes most of the repair work too ('cept in case of major 'orrible surprises) for dismantling, preparing, repainting and reassembling a 240Z to give you an idea.

Sorry, rarity doesn't induce a high price, I agree that they're not as appreciated as they should be but that someone over here is attempting to group-buy several 510s in order to prepare them BRE style. There is already one in Portugal who bought a recent camshaft you might have seen up on ebay. There is another in Belgium.

As for the 260, I agree, nice to see that they're perceived to be appreciating BUT every Zs' price is capped by that of 240s - rare the person who'll buy another model in or above the price range of a 240Z.

THIS IS WHY to save a lot of cars, the 240Z value must be increased.....how ? By a better public perception of its' value...again I ask - where is the priomotion of these cars ? The Z Club should be taking a lead !

This isn't just commercial (better value - more parts suppliers and more parts available) - it's survival !

What is wrong with blue ? I think blue is one of the colours that suits the Z best, also do not have a problem with 110 red get the right shade it looks fantastic. Just my 1/2p worth :D
P.S. If I was building a Z from scratch it would probably be one of these colours.

Nah I think the best colour I've ever seen on a 240 is Dean Bottrell's car, it is gorgeous .

Deans' huh ?

Bored with blue and metallic colours best suit 260Zs not 240s which look just ever so 'tuning' unless in a '70s colour or flat paint.
