240z Variations

I suppose you're right on the details and the price, but it's still a nice car.

Emissions....smog !

Yeh but have you looked at the routing of the black tubing? On the manifold one pipe connects to the manifold again about 3 inches away and the tubing on the bit of kit on top just disappears up it's own ****.

Blanked off and too lazy to simply remove it all ?

Jon - look at the throttle linkage support - the nuts on the top of the struts - just a spray over and to me, a restoration would have the outside paint underneath the bonnet meaning engine out which you'd do in a restoration.......wouldn't you ?

It's very difficult to judge a car with photos. It will always be worse in the flesh. Price looks a bit high but I still think you would have to over $15k plus shipping and vat/duty.

4 speed plus long diff, sloppy suspension and missing some bits, too many others (emissions), a murky engine bay and poor respray - if anyone over here bought it at even $15 + the rest, it surely wouldn't be as a 'keeper' !

I think that's how you do it when you're not over restoring. Mine isn't over restored either :D

You're one tough customer to please Mr. Dezart!!! Find me a car that nice for sale in the UK at £10k and I'd buy it tomorrow! The flaw in that plan of course is the single garage at home ;)

Not 'over-restoring ? There is a simple pride in finishing a car which is lacking there !

Ali - yes because :

a) I've been there twice
b) I've now been on the other side of the fence

There isn't a car that nice over here for that money unless you count the black Z just up in the classifieds (when was it posted I wonder ?) which could be with some money thrown at it......and lmet's face it, this grey one isn't $15 - it's $29 + shipping + customs etc - so you should be asking to see a nice one here at £22k......

So given the engine and gearbox changes on the US models - is there anything about Australian models apart from the indicators I should be aware of?

Rust.
The cost of transport and importing.

Just noticed on those grey Z wheels the curbing......shame !
