crumbs, £46k

Do you think our cars warrant that kind of cost or nowhere near?
Is it the case of riding the wave of popularity?

Am I missing something?

Yes. You're missing that the 'vendor' is a well-known "broker" (chancer) who doesn't know what he's talking about, regularly nicks photos and descriptions of cars for sale with legitimate Japanese dealers and puts them on his own website. He's dangling worms in the hope that some hapless fool will bite. He usually doesn't know what he's talking about. Hence we see KGC110-based (and still L-gata engined) 'Ken & Mary' GT-R lookalikes being offered as The Real Thing etc.

Lying chancer brokers apart, the better S30-series Zs - and especially rare variants like 432s/432-Rs, Fairlady 240ZGs etc - quite often change hands for 5.5 million JPY and on up. Last year a 432 changed hands privately for just under 15 million JPY, and a really nice 240ZG went for over 10 million. That's why you tend not to see many of them leaving Japan. The better cars tend to change hands privately too.

The actual car in question - being a highly modified LHD re-import - would tend to change hands in Japan for less than a similar year / similar condition Japanese market car (that's probably one of the reasons it got re-imported) and is certainly on sale with one of the known and established Japanese dealers at less than half what 'The Spurious Inc.' is asking for it....

opps sorry, that like image was a bit too large. Regardless, the size of it shows the respect and understanding of the detailed knowledge.

Prices of Z's are still on the rise nicely, just shows what people are prepared to pay for decent examples :)

A great condition 240 sold for over £30k the other week, had a modded L28 engine with various transmission upgrades. No roll cage.

It's Wyn's car with shiny bumpers!!!! :D

Seriously, that sort of price demands an exceptional original model with one super celebrity owner!

Whilst the chat is about the Japanese domestic market does anyone know what has happened to RYY 215K ? Recently came across it in an old club mag and see it hasn't been taxed for 10 years. Just curious and interested.

'..............and was restored along with the interior less than some years ago'.

So how long ago is that then? :smash:

So for those of us who weren't about the last time it was talked about, how about some details and history?

It's always nice to have your horizons broadened :)
