240z carb backfire

i am restoring a 240z and im only 21 years old so i am not that good with mechanical stuff> i bought 2 240z's one as parts car and one that im restoring. the parts car was a running car but the one im restoring was not. i took everything out of the engine bay and painted it and put in the engine and bought a lot of new parts while putting it back. my carburetos and distributor is from my parts car but for some reason my carbs are backfiring on me and the car shuts off after backfire. does anyone know whats the problem?
 
wrong ignition timing, muddled plug leads are also things to look at, since you've swapped the distributor over.
 
thanks ill try to mess with that. i asked my local shop and they told me it would cost 300 or more just to figure out the problem. i told them that it just needs to be set up as far as i know and they said that i did everything wrong.
