240 and 260

Seeing as the R34 was launched in 1999, it very likely was not far off being 'brand new'...

Yes....That dawned on me after. It was probably 2001 but the car was literally like brand new underneath etc. Not like just a week with a new car here and they're plastered with mud and ****..

Rob......I think you get the message, you won't make that mistake again :D:thumbs:

Sure. Interesting that in an island (s) overflowing with cars and a depreciating currency advertised prices remain stubbornly firm (Imo). Perhaps it's just economics, hard assets become more popular, car culture strong, economy strong.

Most of what is written ^ applies to UK especially 4-5 years ago when the £ was also struggling. Yet I didn't see MKI and II escorts sell for Mondeo money:confused:

S30's start from as low as 1.5Myen and go to the dizzy heights of 15M Yen for pristine s20 engined examples.

Like I said earlier, depending on what you want determines the route to take in terms of brokerage. At the low end It's a question of seeing a car in an auction, arranging for it to to exported to UK and then realising that " all that glitters is not gold". At the polar opposite end, when spending big big money then flying out to inspect th car in question is highly advisable.

The 240 was the original and in my opinion will always be worth more than a 260. I'm not saying the 260 is less desirable and not a better car in certain ways, just that the 240 will always be worth more.

And just to clear up the confusion as to what I mean by 240 and 260. The 240 is the uk car that came with a 240z badge on it and the 260 is the one that had a 260z badge on it.

.......The Mk1 is infinitely more valuable than the Mk2 .

[/B]MK1 ..Escorts are more sought after than MK2. Fact.

Ok guys, thanks.

I wouldn't say 'infinitely'. Mk1's probably command 30% more for equivalent rarity. Maybe A mint Mk2 Rs2000 would set you back £25k. An equally as rare Mk1 would be £35k ish.

I love my mk2, but in reality would trade it for another Jap car as that is where my heart is at.

Agreed with the first phrase and frankly, it's not us who determines the market price !

As to the second, when specifying UK 240Zs (and therefore presumably ? UK 260Zs), does a UK 260Z rank above a USA imported 240Z in your view ?

Depends on the condition Sean. I'd sooner have a rust free LHD 240 than the usual condition UK 260z.
