Le Mans Classic July 2008

Get real Rob - they're all modded in that group and hardly one that's 100% homologated !

Stick a roll-cage, cut-off and extincter in mine and I could qualify better !.....but I can't afford it so only rich tos*ers do it and unfortunately, they go more for the look and a nice exhaust note !

If you want my finest - you'll have to come on down to my place. I did procure 20 litres of wine today though - 10 of red and 2x 5 of (to be chilled) good rosé !

I'm sure that Philippe (who live between the regions of St Emillion and Graves/Pessac) will bring up some reserves !

I've added another 10 litres of red to that and my neighbour (who's bringing up my Z) will bring some of his drop-dead apperitifs !

Surely Grolls is in his 260, I hope so.

Never mind the weather Sean, one upshot is that it makes for great racing as we have seen today. I'm a bit unsure of tyres tbh. not worth track tyres for 2 wet laps.

Getting excited now (at my age too!).

Rob - isn't the 2+2 an estate ? I took the decision yesterday NOT to fit my sticky tyres - I want to keep them 'fresh' for my next real track day !

Now be nice or no tickets !

Food for 30 people and we can top up what isn't eaten Saturday afternoon upon leaving the circuit !

No, the 30 people is just the Friday night and we'll ask for a modest contribution - don't worry ! There might be more the Saturday night but that I can confirm during the day and niop out and top up at the shop Saturday late afternoon !

Do it in style boy, do it in style !

I suggest that everyone looks after their own pic-nic the Saturday midday on the stand and organises themselves for the sunday midday. Obviously those that are arriving Thursday night and staying Sunday night need to cater for Thursday night, Friday midday and Sunday night.

And whatever you have for brekkie !

I will have a fridge with me from Friday night 'til Sunday afternoon and two cool boxes ! They'll be others with fresh food storage too !

But please bear in mind EVERYONE that at night, the temp can drop there so make sure your bedding and clothing reflects this. Also, for watching the racing late and near the stands, they are higher up the hill and it can get windy !

eg, during the day it can be 25°c and at night 7°c !

I'm bringing a 3x3m one for the stand - we can take it down again Saturday afternoon for the campsite !

I just hope that we can group all the tents together - like a cowboy wagon ring agaisnt all those nasty, bad guys driving Austin Healeys and 911s !

Where's the stiff upper lip, tough Tommy attitude then ?

Oh, if I haven't already mentioned it, the ground can be tough so bring long nails and a metal club hammer instead of tent pegs !

So lets get this right;

Its going to piss down with rain, it will be very humid too, but bloody freezing at night. We will need a jack hammer to pitch a tent and it will be windy.

Jeeze the wine had better be good!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol

Trust me on the wine !

It's you lot bringing the rain - it was lovely here today - only had to look at the Silverstone pictures to remember what an English summer's like !

No wonder Dave Jarman is turing up in his van!

So Sean, what is the scene with the Stand? How long are our cars there etc?

Mr J is turning up in his van because :

1) he's going four-up and

2) he hasn't got a Z running :D

We ge to the stand no later than 09:00 Saturday morning and leave sometime late afternoon. Same thing Sunday but maybe later in the morning  !

Apart from being there for the track session, it's up to you !

hmmm...

WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO TAKE A REAL, RACING, COMPETITIVE Z TO LE MANS ?

Please.

John Jacklin (Samurikid) took his Sam to LM a few years ago. I'd have to check to find out which year.

I should have realised you go to LM every year Sean. Sorry... I must've had a brainstorm.

Drinking this year was impressive but not truly legendary as ten of our troop were tempted by the whirly funfair ride on the way to the champagne tent on Saturday evening. Most of them were off the bubbly for the rest of the night, some turned in early and the rest went green after only one glass :)

And yes, 88mph is the average for LM to Calais in 2.55. He said 89 but I reckon 88 is close enough. I only went out in it for half an hour and that was scary enough...

John did bring his Z and had so much trouble with it on two occasions that it hasn't appeared since - I believe he came dwon in a Skyline thereafter !

How much do you lot pay for a bottle of Lansons' at Le Mans ? I can get extremely good, drinkable champers for €12 a bottle.

Lastly, I was referring to someone racing a competitive Z at Le Mans Classic - the one entered this year is a road car !

See you next year Tony.:)
