I am making the trip north of the M4 and have entered the Quick 60 event at the RetroRides gathering on Saturday 17th September at Mallory Park.

Would be great to meet some forum/club members if they are venturing that way

I'll try to meet you again Ben but there are a few family clashes that weekend (birthdays).

FYI the following day sees the annual Hinckley classic vehicle show. This traditionally is a huge success and the centre of the town is closed off. 600 cars pre Covid. You may wish to attend as a spectator or even show your car. It's free. When I've taken a Datsun I've just turned up and parked but this year they are insisting that exhibitors register. Basically it got too big.

Hi Rob, if you were suggesting I take the Datsun there I think there would be a major issue with getting the motorhome and trailer anywhere near enough to unload

Well people take traction engines towing trailers.

Anyway if you are around on Sunday it's worth an hour of your time.

Still not sure on how the class structure works but hopefully not lumped into the monster turbo class. I think there is a mod prod class for 70s cars so that is where I hope to go.

Also going to Mallory retri rides, I'm just worried about track noise limit as mine a little loud running 2jz with 4" full exhaust. Entered quick 60 also.

What is the stated limit?

Don't you know your noise level?

I think there might be an app for a rough guide.

Hi Rob 105 dB is course limit. I've just built it and it's loud, I have 4" turbo back and pushing 599hp with 541lbft from the 2jz. Will try and get the rack back in and test. Just found a phone app cheers

normally 105db@.5meter 45degrees from tailpipe at 3/4 max revs. Not sure if they have a drive by test.

Feeling lonely as everything seems to be turbo or supercharged :)

Not sure whether to do a rain dance for the weekend to give me a better chance against the turbo boys or not.

I am in the wild pre 98 class so will just have to see how it goes.

Be good to see anyone that can make it on Saturday. See you up there Leigh :)

do they let loads of modern porsches in?
The saturday event is closed now i think but the sunday show may have some afternoon track runs left. I assume it will be the same course as Saturday which is start in the pit lane then 1 flying lap with return to the rear pit entrance.

Hi Ben, do they use the normal car course or are the chicanes included for the sprint. They are used for motorbikes.

It looks like they are using the first chicane after the startline.

We start in the pit exit, then complete a flying lap and return to the pits round the back. Not sure if the timing is just for the flying lap or start to finish.

Practice all morning then knockout runs in the afternoon with I think the aggregate of 2 runs being your time in class

I have never been there before so will be a steep learning curve

Just to add that the Hinckley Classic Show has now been postponed to next week because of the Queen's death.

Dee was doing the macmillan mighty Jurassic coast hike and they cancelled that the day before. The team she was doing it with went ahead and did it still. I don't understand how cancelling something is a mark of respect unless it is the day of the funeral
