I like the free for all idea. Just incase there is someone out there who just happens to be passing who has a pristine early 240Z LHD dashboard, in absolute mint condition, who's willing to sell it to me for pennies.. :)

But seriously, I do like the idea of perhaps having a "subscribed member warning email". Perhaps members could elect to get an email letting them know a new part has been added (and allow members to elect for which model they'd like those emails - a Z32 one is irrelevant to me, but I'll always have a nosey at 240 bits!). Not being someone who's on here every day, it would be nice just having the occasionaly notice warning me of a new 240 part that's being advertised (so long as they weren't popping up in my inbox every 5 mins - but I don't think the classifieds is used any where near that much!!).

I think £1 or £2 fee for advertising would be accepted by most non members - as being the cost of not being in the club (there has to be an advantage to being a paid-up member otherwise you will have people not joining. After all if you are just after parts then why bother).

Happy also to make it a shorter "club member only" facilty - say 2 days.
An email to paid up members as soon as a new advert put up is excellent idea.

However I am happy to leave the final decision to be made by those organise the club facilities - it's hard enough finding the time to make a cup of tea these days. And by the way, talking of the organsiers - well done you lot. This has been an excellent year.

Pmac is spot on in wot he says, twice a member has had something for sale that i was after,as i wasnt a member at the time i couldnt get the details ,so i went else where and got wot i wanted, the parts were stil for sale a long time after, who lost out,yes you got it. the member just because of some idiot who thought this rule up,i dont see members moaning at non members joining in the chit chat and coming up with helpfull tips now and then, or non members cars not being welcome at meetings cos they havn't paid their membership fee to be a member of an internet car forum ,tip, stick yer stuff on ebay, not as many time wasters asking for more pictures ,I thought we were all z enthusiasts obviously this shows that z nuts dont stick together

Having website members able to see the classifieds straight away isn't a problem, but selling should be restricted to those subscribed. Not just because it's a benefit that attracts subscriptions (Which I'll point out, the club NEEDS to stay afloat and continue), but also for the reason that the club has the name and address of paid up members, therefore reducing the risks of fraud and increasing the chances that sales are genuine, not just some random person, who filled out the forum registration and then took a load of money over paypal and scarpered.

The upfront fee would be better than a success fee, as you'd have to chase down a success fee after the fact, which lets face it, is just never gunna get paid. However an upfront minimal fee of 50p (or more) doesn't help to protect anyone against the aforementioned fraud and isn't exactly off-putting to a potential fraudster.

So you were not a subscribed member and although the items brief description appears at the side of the home page you saw it there and it reminded you needed this item so urgently you could not wait the seven days so went out straight away to buy it else where as you could not wait the seven days to view it. well I will take your reasoning on this with a pinch of salt

who lost out,yes you got it. the member just because of some idiot who thought this rule up,
Whoa there was not one person who thought up the proposal
It was brought up in a vote by members prior to any proposal being put up in a poll on the forum whereby any member subscribed or not was invite to vote on which one of the proposals they would like to see implemented
The proposals were

I can not remember if at that time you were a subscribed member or not when the poll was being carried out but you were certainly active on the forum at that time and guess what you never bothered to vote in it
So please don't throw the idiot thing around as it derides all but 4 of the users who voted for prior access
,tip, stick yer stuff on ebay, not as many time wasters asking for more pictures
And yet another dig of other users on here
,I thought we were all z enthusiasts obviously this shows that z nuts dont stick together
Well at least this particular part of you post is true as you don't want to stick together with most of the people on here

Porky i forgot to mention 1 of the bits was for someone else, proof that im not the only one that is not interested in silly rules and some one must have come up with the idea in the first place not half a dozen people all at the same time,as for voting that is everybodys choice and yes i know wot you are going to say on that so dont waste your breath,as for the dig at other users,i was speaking through experiance, they know who they are,the point is Porky both sets of users can lose out member or non member just because they are not z forum members,no wonder the wot use to be the z club has declined over the years, and yea i am a Z nut and it wouldnt bother me if some one wasnt a z forum member or not, some of us do stick together, you should take note of P mac,i think he is one person on here who knows wot he is talking about, the likes of Pete,me and a few of the other Z nuts have been around a long time, but at the end of the day we have to abide by wot some people think are stupid rules,so if the classified section stays as it is then so be it ,not my loss,

I hope there is something coded into the classifieds that prevents anyone on my ignore list from contacting or buying anything from me because that list has just grown by one.

You have nothing that i want and never will want,i have lots of 280zx bits that you might or might not need in your restore job, i have owned 2 of them in the past and one of them i broke up you have just proved a point that i was trying to make earlier that us Z nuts should stick together, you obviously are not one of those,Like i said a while back to someone on here,if you dont like other peoples opinions then dont come on here, thats wot makes it interesting dont you think, not worth getting the ump ,ps good luck with the 280,should look cool when its done

All opinions welcome as for wot mrs hollow said about the ignore list, bit childish especially as we have never met but thats my opinion and im not botherd either way,so lets stick to the thread in question shall we,we can discuss peoples opinions on another thread if someone wants to start a new thread, how is the vote going steve, anyone else bothering to stick their bit in

Not really relevant to the thread but after calling people stupid and slagging of the people who do not agree your opinion almost made me hit the ignore button as well
Lets try and keep this on topic as it is meant to be trying to get peoples opinion on the classified system

how is the vote going steve, anyone else bothering to stick their bit in
What is quite surprising is that out of the 9 non subscribed members who voted
1 voted to keep the 7 day option
1 voted for the subscribed only option
1 voted for the non members minimal fee option
6 voted for the free for all non subscribed option

Can all posts in this thread please be related to what the thread was started for and that was Opinions on What sort of classified system you want and any post content that does not relate to this will be removed

What part of keeping on topic do people do not understand
Getting a bit p!ssed off with it now
KEEP ON TOPIC OR THE POST WILL BE DELETED

Totally agree with wot you said there porky as stated in my one but last thread,as you seem to deleted my last thread cos you didnt like it or agree with it,so lets stay on topic like we both said, but you are contradicting yourself as my post said lets get back on topic but you didnt do that so lets just get back on topic shall we,im not getting pissed off cant see the problem

It's the age of Google, android, open-source, and angry birds... I'm afraid it's bred a generation or made some enter the generation that they expect everything for free. Therefore the majority of non subscribed opting for a free for all is not at all that surprising to me.

But if the site was a free for all, the only way it could continue to fund it's services and manage to fund events is by hitting traders extremely hard and before you know it, it would just be one big advertising venue and not a forum or club.... or more likely just would discontinue as a club.

Ive already saves £100's by being a member here, but it's only possible due to those subscribers who gave a little to gain a lot.

I thought we were staying on thread, must have missed something .6 voted for the non subcribed option, whether they are members or not ,that sends out a message as to wot us Z folk think,

Without going too far off topic, the other (now closed) .net forum didn't charge for classifieds and you didn't need to be subbed to buy or sell. I don't remember issues of fraud or site becoming a free for all with ads galore in the time it was running that have been mentioned on here as reasons to avoid opening it up.

I think opening it up for anyone to buy straight away is a no-brainer as it benefits everyone. Perhaps only subbed members being able to advertise is the way to keep subscriptions up as you are likely to make your subscription money back after a single sale and this seems to work well on the .co.uk site.

Please note the other z forums are mentioned as they are the ones I have experience of - this is not looking to discuss those clubs or recent goings on - just referencing how they worked and not too many issues apart from dealing with the odd post in non classified areas from non-subbed members mentioning they have something to sell, or 'how much is it worth?' threads which inevitably turn into a for sale thread.

opening up for everyone is exactly my point and others on here also say the same, well put,as like you say,it benefits everyone, not rocket science is it
