SKiddell said:Ahaha, I have a good memory (and the power of Google) looky here http://www.theresults.co.uk/theresults/Results/2006/2006_Motorsport_0430_York_Raceway_Category_Results.pdf
I is in the touring cars class, number 323, great day out but couldn’t understand for the life of me why a comp-altered was considered a "touring car"....another example of York Raceway logic .....similar to how on earth a certain Scirroco with slicks and no mirrors is considered "road legal" ....never mind ehhh, sour grapes and all that, I do like the class system at York and wish the money grabbing *&*&^%$ at Santa Pod would do the same....might get rid of some of the cannon fodder, that clogg up the fire up road.
As a side note Martin, the Z club has run the Drag Challenge for many years and has data going back to the 80's (search for Hall Of Fame) with some pretty impressive times (try sub 9 seconds)
We don’t attend every RWYB (see our calendar) but if we are there, come on over and the Z Club will buy you a coffee
On the 300ZX TT front not many have ventured into the low 13's but there are a couple....as far as the 350Z turbo's we have no data on those as no one has ever brought one along, many owners have had trouble with the aftermarket turbo installation ....we do however have very good quality data on a supercharged 350Z owned by our own Mike Feeney (see hall of fame in just about every category including sub 9 seconds)which has run a best of 13.8 (I think) but is known to suffer from heat soak and performs better than that on the road.
Well done in getting (so far) the 19th position in the Castrol Challenge but watch your butt I'm only 2 tenths off......and our cars look much much better
importfairlady said:now now mr skiddell, play nice with our guest, martin. i second the coffee offer for our next rwyb meeting, though i will probably pass on the rematch..... if you are attending then let me know as i will surely be their with my camera's (multiple) and can bring along a copy of the footage that i shot last time so you can edit it however you wish, i'm sure you'll laugh at the audio (i'm sure you can imagine exactly what i'm saying!) anyway i was very impressed with your little clio, most 300 owners would love a 13 second car but are happy with 14's. anyway enjoy and i'm sure we'll all see you at the next meet
I was there on the 1st but stopped running at about 15:00 due to a very slight oil leak....didnt want to get red carded , 13.42 wasnt a PB for me though, ran a 13.31 and a 13.38 last year, just around "Gary's Picnic" when the track prep was fantastic....(On the 1st April it took me all morning to get my tyre pressures right the morning was a little to cool) ........12's is going to happen but maybe not this year as the new engine wont be ready......but still, I have a new cam, header and "differant" fuel to play with, so who knows. There will be many other "good" days when the track prep is "right" and the weather "just so" just got to make sure I am there to enjoy it . As mentioned this event has been going on for years (I think I first ran in 2004 or so and 100 runs or so later still have so much to learn)Martin said:your just unlucky you were'nt there on 1st april I reckon you could have got similar times to me or ever 12s...the tailwind was strong
with big power comes big weight, 300ZXTT ar'nt renowned for being light on their feet, a couple of our guys (and 300ZX.co.uk) have done very low 13's and one has done a mid 12 on slicks.Martin said:hmm I thought it was easy to get big power out of the 300ZX TT
