I'm a Teacher. I don't have a job that can help anyone out practically and that's why I don't have any skills whatsoever when it comes to working on my Z, I just rely on the Cheshire Plainz group to bail me out!

Zeeman1972 - time to update your profile here.......;)

Yes probably, thanks Sean!:p

Well as Sean knows according to my wife I'm a bum kept in beer tokens by her!:D

As far as I'm concerned, having gotten sick of the BS at VirginMedia I escaped, initially to do a loft, side and rear extension on my own house after having no joy finding a competent builder that gave me the confidence that they could do it for me. It seemed that because I wanted something a little different in the main design, some of the new rooms to be underfloor heated, with no visble cables or pipes, very well insulated and with fairly ecological materials that I had asked for the moon on a stick!

So I have now gone back to building again after a 16 year break, built up a good group of trades and am fully up to speed with all the new regs and rules. So having bought and developed other property in the last two years it looks like I have caught the bug again and will be staying in this line of business. So if anybody needs some general advice or wants to do something creative with their house more than happy to help as far as I can.

Cheers,

Steve

I quality control the earthworks (including bulldozers, diggers, dumpers etc, lime and cement treatment) for building platforms, small roads, large roads, dual-carriage ways, m-ways, sea, river and canal dikes, watse-disposal sites, bitumen and gravelling of small country roads, tarmacadam production and laying on all of the above, currently responsable for three tarmacadam production facilities at Nantes, Angers and Le Mans.

This also involves taking many samples, testing and producing feasability studies - I don't work for the state or local govt. but for Eiffage.

I cover Southern Brittany and the Pays de la Loire which means everywhere between La Rochelle, Lorient, Rennes, Nantes, Angers, Mayenne and Le Mans - 1,000+ miles a week.

If any of that helps you, apart from safe driving in France - let me know.
In front of our lot and before the side walk, we have 40 centimeter asfalt, the weed is growing up in that asfalt, what can cause that and what can i do about it ???......:bs:

First of all Steve - if you want a working holiday, free bard and lodging for 2 1/2, I've got a job to do on my bake house.

Secondly, 40cm asphalt - that's a lot - a typical m-way has 2 base layers of 8cm and then a last layer of between 5-7cm, sometimes there uis yet another thin layer to help drainage or reduce noise of 2-3 cm.
That makes 25cm for a m-way - and you have 40 ? If weeds are growing through that then the lower layers are compromised (tree roots, subsidence etc). All that can be done is treat against weeds or 'rip' it up and re-lay !

Lol Take a ticket and wait your time!

I'm working for the NHS as an admin support for a district nursing team. I have a pretty consistant history of doing care jobs before my back went in my last job, hence now doing admin (yay)

I am a qualified Shiatsu Practitioner (thats massage and not dog grooming) ran my own practice in Shetland for 2 yrs. And have a background in counselling and engineering as well so always enjoyed being pretty hands on with me cars and bikes.

Have done pretty much all odd jobs in my time the general jack of all trades master of a few :)

So any health, lifetyle, issues, support or good old back problems I may be able to help.

Grolls - pay night subsistence then you tight bugger !

Chris - for 40cm 'long' of asphalt, weed-kill it or rip it up, lay a membrane, gravel then asphalt !

Small world, I spent 3 years learning (and obtained) my diploma in Holistic massage in Amsterdam which included Shiatsu, classic massage, Feldenkrais, reflexology and physiology.

Drove buses, coaches, HGVs, open-topped tourist buses, tour-guiding, transport managing, dish-washing, CD-i research, civil servant (MOD), paratroop reg. (18 months - not really allowed to talk about that much though), fixed computers and associated hardware and now build roads etc as stated before !

I've got my own computer business which I started in '99. I was an electrical engineer up until then but decided I needed a change, so opened the shop. I closed the shop a couple of years ago to go mobile with the computer business and start a self build project, which I'm still trying to find time to finish (check out thins link if your interested: BananAlbum ).

If you want any computer related advice, drop me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help. I don't work outside of Benfleet though as I'm already snowed under with work.

PS. I need to finish the house so I can get on with the Z.

Chris - if I don't get it it's because you don't state clearly when asking about a problem - 40cm wide ok, how long - the last platform of tarmacadam I checked out was 30000m² - the one before that 4x bigger - you can see it from the A87, on the south side just before the Chemillé exit !

Dig up the stuff and start again !

Me and my stupid English, sorry, or am i just teasing you;), it's just a bad job made by a contractor, caring more about money than making a good and lasting job, yes i will have that 3 cm layer removed, put on a thicker layer and have it wacked good.
