but at least it is a guide on the figure the seller is expecting.

How do you figure that???? Are you going to monitor every advert to see if the BIN price is correct for the item????

Going back to your original sentence...and I re quote.
Good point about 'best offer' Derek, a 'buy it now' price with 'make offer' would be good.
in the first half of your sentence you are agreeing with Derek on having a NO OFFERS rule. In the second half you are saying "make offer" would be a good idea. LOL
Well making an offer is either a good idea or it isnt a good idea. It cant be both!!
Thats what you said but what did you mean to say.????

I think that only members should be allowed to vote on this poll as non-members will skew the data ;)

Whereas Paid members wont?????

JakTheRuby Agree. Best offer annoys me. This is not an auction site.
We know its not an auction site Jak but there is nothing in the current club constitution preventing an auction style advert being placed.
And thre is no difference in principle between having an advert starting without a price ie "offers" to one with a ridiculous high price with "offers".
In the real world an item will only sell at a price that the buyer is willing to pay. Fact.

In reality, the 'best offer' can protect the seller from getting the price they want, and opens up the possibility of someone offering far more than the item is worth. :p

I voted 3 days but in hindsight I have changed my mind. If everyone can sell (paid or unpaid), everyone should then be able to buy.

If you are going down these roads you might as well just prevent unpaid members from buying or selling and make classifieds private. That would be much easier. I would think modding who can sell, who can buy etc, when to change dates people can view etc will be a minefield for little reward maybe?

People will use Ebay if they think they have a lower chance of buying selling on here, taking a valuable club tool away from the club and placing it elsewhere. Vintage Zed parts are bloody rare and they should, if at all possible be kept on the club as a one stop shop for owners.

and best offer is rubbish, just ask for a price even a rough price with an O.N.O

I think everyone should be allowed to sell and as a perk of membership then give paid up members first dips at choosing to buy. Hopefully this may even encourage unpaid members to become paid members and help fund the club.

Is there a plug in to do this or will every classified ad need to be modified after it has been in place for X amount of days?

Just my opinion Pete. I think my problem comes from being British and worried about someone ridiculing me in a public place by either under-offering and looking like a pillock or over-offering and the seller being happy but everyone else calling you a pillock.

And Im pleased to see a range of opinions.
Personally I really dont care what is decided.
So I dont have an opinion.
The classifieds discussion is in reality part of the bigger issue that this forum is facing....
Do you want to have it as a vibrant open site available by almost any Z owner across the globe to access and use or do you want to have a small quiet club forum where a few owners can congegate in their own little world and operate a kinda "closed shop " policy so beloved of many organizations in the late 20th century
Aspects of this have all been debated "ad nauseum" before without any clear direction ever being forulated.
Many organizations look to their Chairman for direction and policy matters. You have been around long enough now to gain considerable experience. Maybe its your call to try and formulate a forward policy for the club and its forum You have a good little team of executives round you to assist..
More endless debate wont cut it.

I voted for 7 days and after reading through the usual arguments it seems to be the consensus, I voted for this because I feel I should have a head start over non members because after all I pay my membership and support the club, Non members do not support anything they're like pick pockets in my opinion, They use the site but offer no real support so why should they have a level playing field.

As for the Jack I wouldn't put that under my 40 year old sills just in case the car folds in half, So in my opinion it's only worth scrap value lol.

Ok
I voted for 3 days as I look at £15 and think thats a pittance to pay for membership of a club but the way I see it is that its flexible, try it for a while and if it doesnt work change it

Nothings cast in stone only death, taxes, earth sun moon, stars, X factor winners getting Christmas number 1, getting older, balder, less fit, fuel prices increase, politicians lie and filander, I'll miss my knees when their gone

OK so there are things cast in stone but you get my point right

May be a time to have another poll to see whether the subscribed membership still wants the perks of seven day prior viewing rights to any for sale classified
