L28 ET project

Over the coming years the SuperMod class is going to very hotly contested :D This will no doubt be music to Mr F's ears ????

Degreased and painted my engine block today, what's the best thing for cleaning the cylinders...small amount of oil glazing. I'm using Jizer on the pistons but it doesn't seem to remove all the carbon.
Any good tips?

Ok after looking into suitable clutches I'm going to go with the SPEC SN543, does anyone know if the 200sx clutch will fit the Z flywheel as the same part number is listed for the 200sx which would save shipping from the States

I use an ACT "organic" clutch...doesnt tear up the flywheel friction face like some puck clutches do and the clamping force is monsterous unfortunatley the pedal is a little on the "firm" side

ACT can probably be persuaded to do the 6-puck clutch for 280 size, but this would be a bit more "switch" like (ACT call it "harsh engagement").
Organic disc will handle up to 400 ft/lbs torque, 6-puck will extend this to 512 ft/lbs. Both increase clamping force by +63% over stock and use the same pressure plate.
With appropriate flywheel change, there are multi-plate applications also available, but not exactly off the shelf.

Got a clutch / flywheel package. Called David Norton at Spec, in the States.

an aluminium 11lb 240mm flywheel and stage 3 (515ft/lb) clutch kit for $630

"At the end of the day, If I blow my gearbox, diff or driveshafts, I'll buy some more".

You are gonna destroy a lot of gearboxes.
They fitted the T5 box to the 280ZXT and probably for good reason. If you can get hold of a bellhousing from the States then you can run a box from a Cossie or most TVR's. However, you would need to change the clutch plate as the input shaft on the box is different. Would also need a custom prop.
I am running this set up with a straight cut gear kit rated to 500hp (I wish...). 2nd hand T5's go for reasonable money, but I would rule out the gear kit based on noise and price, really not suitable for everyday use.

Thanks for the tips Zman, I doubt I will ever reach that kind of power probably nearer 350ft/lb but I'm sure a few things will snap/crack.

At the moment I'm removing all the old paint from the engine bay....lot of work and the idea of cutting the rad support panel and fabricating a new rad/IC support.

It takes a person with a pot of black paint and a brush minutes to ***k up an engine bay and hours for me to put it right:(

Throttle body, fuel rail, Intercooler and pipes arrived today. This should keep the charge a little cooler

1. Nice intercooler, who supplies it?
2. Are you going slanted or upright
3. What size TB have you gone for

I've gone for a 60mm throttle body, Not sure how I'm going to fix it in place yet.
I bought it from this Guy on ebay

It came packaged very well and seems to be very good quality.

I got the pipe kit from ebay also, again very good quality.
