DVD arrived this morning (post man early for once!)
can't wait to watch it tonight
Thanks again

PS would the makers be willing to let us use small clips of the Datsuns on a Z Club DVD??????

Glad you all enjoyed it.

I will need to speak to the organisers and find out if we can use some clips. I can't see that they will refuse. After all it can only promote their event!

Thank you Hatari. Posty tried to deliver mine yesterday, but I had already left for work. Pick up Sat. can't wait.

Ian

Absolutely stunning, this is truly the greatest rally on earth.  As if time stood still. Going upstairs now for new paints……..:D

"Colourful fearsome cars were roaring in the woods again. The sight and sound of the mighty Datsun 240Z's will long be savoured"

I am glad you enjoyed it! .....and I hope you mean going upstairs for a new pair of "pants" :D :D :D :D :D :D

Really enjoyed watching this. I'll give it a few days and watch it again.

This rally is fantastic, I love the section that goes across a mountain ridge with drops either side. What a wonderful country.

I also like the fact that the drivers work on their cars, no prima-donnas here!

Waldegard's face near the end (covered in dust) was a picture, but he thoroughly enjoyed it too!

Thanks Hatari.

Amazombi

Hi Jo!

Yes got your mail and will pic up today and your Dvd will be in the post tonight. Thanks

Thanks to all.

Just wanted to say thanks to all that placed your order and more importantly for the prompt payments.

I am glad that you all enjoyed them.

I have been told that members are concerned that I have supplied "copies". At first glance I was also concerned about "DVD quality", and have already pointed it out to the Organisers. The DVD's you have all got have come from Mike Kirklands Office (one of the Directors of the East African Safari Rally). They were personally delivered to my Dad (organiser and clerk of the course for numerous National events in Kenya), who shipped these over to me from Kenya. For those of you that bought last 2003 DVD from Duke Video will know that the Dvd was of a similar quality. I have nothing to gain from this and nor have the know how or time to copy over 30 Dvd's. The idea of doing this was to share the Safari Experience not for a monetary gain.

If any of you have any concerns over the DVD's then please PM me. I will pass both negative and positive feedback to the Directors.

I had no problems with the quality of my DVD.

Excellent event and DVD! I just have to get Debby to sell the house so that we can do the next one! That might just cover it!

Thanks Hatari

Hugh

ps Our friend, Peter Hall, who actually competed on the rally in an Escort, did get a DVD direct from the organisers which would not play properly! He obviously only spent half a house!

Nothing wrong with the quality of my DVD in fact its excellent

A BIG UP to Hatari for sourcing for club members thanks

By the way sure I recognised a certain gent in the datsun shirt near the end of the DVD

The quality of mine was excellent too!

I just wish that we could see all the filming that was not used after editing. I never get tired of watching this sort of thing.

You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. But thanks to you for arranging payment from so far away! Keep in touch.

I second that, but did anyone spot the "deliberate mistake"?
Early on in the film it states that the event was for pre 1975 cars but there was a Datsun 160J sss running which would have been well and truly post 1975 probably nearer 1978.:conf2: But then it had a local crew so I suppose politics had something to do with it;)

Nigel,

I think that there were many 'deliberate mistakes' and that local politics does play a part and that often, rules are supple and others (most ?) bend 'em 'til they almost break ;)
