Hugh: I think the 710sss was intended as a flashback to the earlier Safari rallies, but there was a 180B which sounded very healthy.

There was no Datsun 160JSSS ( PA10 model) or Datsun 710 SSS (violet) running in this event. I can confirm as I was there
. Nigel, I think you are referring to the 1600SSS, ( 510 series) which were built from the 68-74. There were three 510's running in this event, quite legitimately.
As for the 180bSSS (610 series), yes there were 2 saloon versions entered as these would qualify as they were built from 1971 - 1977.
No local politics as far as the car entry list is concerned.

I have to second Datsfun on what he has just said. NO PA10's or 710 series entered the 2005 Event.

Some of the cars prepared were out of this world. Nothing like what used to run in period. The cars where driven at WRC pace, and why wouldn't they .... ? most used parts that current WRC cars run on! Proflex Suspension, Ohlins and the like with remote canisters never exsisted in 1974!
