Whether you like his written style or not, this forum would be a much duller and less informative place without the contributions from Sean

It really pains me and it difficult for me to write this message but I agree with ^ statement.

Sean and I don't see eye to eye on many things.... loves LHD custard cream yellow colours, hates 4 door siblings of the Datsun family etc etc yet we just "get along".

In many ways Sean and Don the Muscleman are the same in that they both have qualities that get the silent masses to chime in. In the latter's case we even had peeps tuning in from Australia.:D

Sitting behind keyboard and reading the messages can create alternative perceptions as is evidenced above. That's why I like using the emoji's as one can try and channel the message to the receipeint in its intended form.

Hang on, hang on, hang on. That's a step too far. Spectating at a sporting event and rubbernecking at an accident are not the same thing.

The 'Don Muscles' type (and his style of 'restoration') are not the future of our hobby. People like that are usually here today, gone tomorrow. They usually don't listen to advice and are not in any position to give any either. They don't usually end up with what they wanted or dreamed of and they eventually move off in some other direction never to be seen or heard of again.

No comparison.

I know you will come back with some smart Alek comments and produce a dictionary definition or cite some research - just sharing with you my life experience.

And thankyou for sharing something personal. Aside from the dict definition....let me have some drt ground upon which to stand and obviously you can predict me  : did I in your perception come back with a cocky comment ?

Let's all follow what Oddbal said and also what Mrs Brigman said :

Keyboard interpretation and especially without emojis* can be so misleading especially without having met and know the person 'opposite'.

* even these have been quoted by someone here as effectively two-faced.

Back to the boring DIY.........:(

Agreed.

My observation was limited at the ability of the said individuals to somehow "pull together" the so called silent majority community. No reference was made or implied at the technical ability, competence, common sense or un-othodox approach to all matters. That would be blatantly singling Sean out ....:D

Any typed word, well meaning or not is devoid of body language and without it, you will misinterpret what is being said if it's not being said very well.
And we are all guilty. I imagine that in the same way that we formulate a reply halfway through someone's sentence, we don't fully read and digest others posts, before reposting or forming opinions.
I made general forum observations on an earlier post, I've no beef with anyone, Sean seems to be copping a lot of negativity, which for him must be hard given the resent events in his part of the world and that the rest of it actually likes France this week.
As we head into winter and those long cold nights filled with cabin fever, let's all pause and re-read before hitting those keys.

We call that one Muad'Did (sorry, wrong film) : la force de frappe !

A long time ago in a different galaxy, young de Gaulle decided that France should have an independant military and so did it happen (with a lot of other things to which he applied his will). The EPRs are a shoot-off of France's own nuclear deterrant only to be used in a last-resort against the asian hordes, visigoths, ostrogths and the like.

The force de frappe is a fast-reacting autonomous 'unit' that can hit anywhere in the world and/or defend French nationals....better read commercial interests there.

It has for several years been trudging around central Africa....much like the Foreign Legion did with Beau Geste (another word-play meaning good-deed) in North Africa.

The French Air Force was also part responsable for the development sales and personnel training of the Super Entendards and Exocets (oops) !

Genius, name your aerial strike force after a caffeine drink, they will assume it a Galic coffee delivery.

Coffee is an intergral part of the culture here - none of your styrome cups and parading it about the streets - has to be be drunk at the pavement table or at the formica wood-effect bar.

Made me think that question so spent some time on Wiki..... of course they are always 100% accurate  but France have half the fighter force of South Korea but add those entire fleets together and it still does does not come to the amount of F15s the USA have let alone the rest of the strike force. The numbers are simply staggering

My useless input for the day....

But when your pretending to be delivering coffee, you can sneak up on anyone and BOOM!!!!, job done, home in time for some cheese and wine.

Beware of being offered cheese with your wine (especially wine-tasting) - it masks 'bad'* wine.

Bad for various reasons :

too young - called green

too old - called corked / bouchonné

just good old fashioned 'bottle-in-a-paper-bag' table wine just above meths in the evolutionary table....

And at what temperature should a claret be served ?
