It is just my perception - having been reading Sean's contribution over the few months - that he comes across as rude, arrogant and sarcastic. Now that may well not be the actual person. No idea. Never met or intend to meet. But that is my perception. The perception he created.

I'm a member of several forums - different marks. From NSX to Impact bumpers to DDK and CRX. There is certainly an undercurrent of tension in this forum. Sorry I have to call that out, but I have nothing to gain or lose by stating this. This is what I feel. And I don't need anyone telling me to have thicker skin.

It's a pity, because it leaves a bad taste in my mouth as a new member. Enough said ...

Err no, not quite....

Firstly your own perception is that which you create yourself - agreed ? I can't create a perception and implant it.

Secondly, judgement without knowing me (or wanting to make that effort) is a bit blinkered at best wouldn't you agree ? Arrogant and rude might be used by someone else....

If I'm sarcastic, its most prpbably with those that know me since a while and I receive as much as I get - check out Status' ripostes....or correct me and list others - I'm humble and can apologise.:)

I don't recall exchanging anything with you...

Have a look back recently - I'm sure that you'll find I've made big efforts to lighten the tone - move on and basically allow the 'I beg to differ/agree to disagree' sentiment to flourish.

Be constructive and build bridges :driving: perhaps its the French culture that has infused....all run about and shout at each other and then stolidly get on with the job.

Frankly if you've nothing positive to contribute here, your comments can only be negative and I'd ask you to refrain from worsening the atmosphere - this isn't the Eurovision song contest - 1x pt for Riddler, 1x for The Count....nil pts for Norway (sorry - Sean)...

Have anice weekend stranger.

I think we have had an exchange a month back. I didn't like it then and don't like it now. My perception of you is something you created. As I said, compared with other forums, the tone and style here is off putting... And that's a shame.

A small change in your attitude would go a long way. Pity you just can't see it

Seriously, you 'think' that we had en exchange ?

Where please ? :

http://zclub.net/forum/search.php?searchid=1405406

http://zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26019 : post 11 was a reply specifically to The Count here just as proof that I don't lick his trousers and as has been oft stated on this forum - I'm entitled to my personal opinion.

There are comments between Datsfun and I but we go way back and the man haunts me:D with his non-Z Datsuns.

Perception (Oxford dictionary) : The way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted.

Perhaps your perception of my humour is sarcasm

Perception in us is not created by others.....except perhaps by Big Brother. :thumbs:joke - lighten up, get to know me - I'd like to do the same - for me it isn't just the cars or I would have been Chairman, events organiser and now heading the club here - it only eats into my personal time like the guys that run this club here !

I asked about engine decals. Simple question. You said 'why bother'. I didn't like the sarcasm then or now.

That was the first exchange. And my last with you Sean. You have a problem accepting that the way in which you come across - that is obvious to anyone. Life is too short to explain to people with your problem that you have a problem. It's not win able or a good use of my time. Can we leave it at that please?

It is just my perception - having been reading Sean's contribution over the few months - that he comes across as rude, arrogant and sarcastic ...

Do those three attributes...equal being honest.

Recently I sold a 240z,to someone that had already owned a Z.
When he bought the first Z he came on the forum excited about his new purchase,
A few ripped the car to pieces. He told me he wouldn't come on the forum again, Although he did receive a PM, in his words from a Frenchman, telling him to take no notice, offering advice and help if needed.

Again recently I wanted to order some front spoilers from a company, I asked Sean for some advice. He sent me pics of different cars with spoilers, so I could pick the right one.

This week I sent Sean some pics of a recent import, he replied back, saying he didn't like certain things about the car, he did the same on another car. I didn't start crying.
Instead I took his honesty as being constructive, and addressed a couple of items .

Thankyou Steve - there is a lot that happens 'on this forum' that passes unseen in MPs, tel calls and emails.

Gt - I was also the first to wish you happiness here with your Z : http://zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26192

Got it here :

I do lots of things with Datsuns and have sent you a link to help you platser your airbox with stickers.

If aftermarket stickers (and be careful obviously of years, models and destination markets....so therefore a minefield of 'originality) are your thing - have fun, my humble opinion and so expressed is 'why bother'.

If you take that as a wind up despite me taking the time to find you probably the best source and therby providing you with the choice to accomplish that which you wish*.

* is it to compete in concours competitions ? If so, it's possible that you'll know more than the judges who may well mark down your car through THIER ignorance - I'm speaking from experience.

Cheers.

ps I haven't begun to wind you up - but let's have a glass first before tossing the toys.

So I gave you MY opinion AND also a link for you to find what YOU want for YOUR car !

I quantified my words and made an attempt (at the end) to make up.

Why are you so sensitive ?

Tell you what - I'll try and write more poetically and you try to look beyond the black and white text and your perception that I created.....deal ?:cheers:

Sean. Last thought. Hopefully one that strikes a cord with you - as it did with me 20 years ago. It changed me forever.

I, like you, believed my actions, words and the way in which they where put across was someone else's problem, not mine. Then one night, I was walking home. It was dark. A lonely street. As I walked home alone, I noticed a young girl ahead of me, also walking home.

I just carried on walking - minding my own business. After a while the girl came up to me. Said that I had terrified her... She was really scared. She told me the very action of walking behind her, had really worried and upset her. I thought I had done nothing wrong. But I had created the perception in her of extreme danger. From that moment on, I became aware that not just the words, or actions, but the way in which they come across can have a big impact.

A silly story I know, but it did alter my thinking on perception and how/what I say and do can impact others. I know you will come back with some smart Alek comments and produce a dictionary definition or cite some research - just sharing with you my life experience.

Point taken.....so long as weighed against none of us can go through life worrying about what every person we come across perceives - got to not forget to be ourselves too.

My last point : you've been on here since just 3 months, I've welcomed you, helped you, participated in your threads and you've only remembered the most negative...like the girl on the street, maybe you you could look more at the positive side...she did at least feel reassured to approach you and share her feelings - that was something positive to leave with after the encounter.

I still maintain the definition of perception : created within us and not imposed.:)

Whether you like his written style or not, this forum would be a much duller and less informative place without the contributions from Sean

An olive branch was put out and accepted and then this? No need in my view.

Call it a day all, have some cheese and wine and stop hitting me with those negative waves man.
