And at what temperature should a claret be served ?

Surely it depends on your taste. I don't drink white at all, ever. I am happy to drink very cold Rose when the weather is hot. I cannot bear cold or chilled red. Room temperature or slightly below is fine for me.

I will be snowboarding again this Xmas and no doubt when I arrive I will again ask the hotel to take a few bottles out of the chiller.

Drinking cold red is akin to cold soup...... its just wrong

Ah, OK. Had to go back and search if my 'skim read' post was on this thread, didn't feel the need to go and check every post you have ever posted on the forum to make sure where I stood. In my innocence thought you were genuinely interested in Scotch Broth, had lots of info lined up, was getting all sentimental for Hogmanay.
