I just got my 260Z back from having her sorted and painted and I stuck a pic in the "my Z" part of the gallery. It's the shiny red one at the bottom. Anyway, I'm as chuffed as a great big chuffed thing and I can't wipe the silly grin off my face. Check her out :)

I was priviledged to be the first (apart from Tony) to see the 260Z in the flesh and I was very impressed with the quality of finish achieved by Gary at G.B. Repairs in Lincolnshire. There were some difficult areas on this car which have been re-finished to a really good standard.

Gary has my own 300ZX completed for me and I'm looking forward to the reunion with an undented car tomorrow. He has also completed a very nice silver Chromaflare repaint on his own 300ZX Z32 - rainbow ripples under strong sunlight and good artificial lighting.

Ummm no... the one with the clear indicator lenses and white garage door behind it in the "my Z" gallery. The colour is  "Radiant Red" two-pack which is actually a <gulp> Ford colour, but it's as near as dammit to Ferrari Red (only cheaper, of course). If any non-zed owner asks me I say the latter of course :-D

your saying that the red in the picture above is Ford Radiant Red?  my 280 is that colour, just shows how much it has faded, we were thinking of another shade of red but maybe if its resprayed ......
 
Yup... it's good old Ford (eeek! ) Radiant Red. I had a Sierra 4x4 (don't knock it - it was FUN) in RR and that faded like mad in the sun. That said, the paint was from '86. I know that red is bad for fading but my Z will be living in a garage so hopefully it'll last for a good few years.

And can I again say a big thank-you to Gary Bellamy (01529 241474) who worked miracles with the car. The panel gaps and fits are A1, he must have spent as long on the underneath as he did on the shiny bits, and he was incredibly patient with all my "How's she going?" telephone calls. Utterly, utterly brilliant. Top class Gary :)
 
hi tony. have put your pic in the 260z album. got to say that it does look the dogs doh dahs. just goes to show what can be done if the time and effort is put in. hope to see the car in the flesh one day. ben

That's great - thanks! (I'm just getting the hang of the pic posting lark). I have to say, the old girl was a bit of a ratbag before she went over to Gary, and it is sooo, sooo nice to get favourable comments about her at last. Something else that made me smile was the number of back-seat passengers in other cars who turned round to look at the Z when they went past (I was moderating my speed somewhat). I don't know what they made of the grinning idiot behind the wheel!
 
just wait until you drive down the street and they all shout "Mister gees a shot o yur car" (need accent here)   <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>   Really must tint the windows.

BTW what colour was the Z before the respray?
 
I've been thinking about window tinting actually. I'll get it done once my bank balance recovers!

Before painting she was white, and before that the factory colour was bronze. White paint wasn't good though, so it had to be cut back hard for the respray.

If you do tint the windows remember the legislations, think its ok for the rear window, back quarter windows to do with what you like and on the passenger and driver window it should let through at least 70% light (light smoke) and nothing on the front screen that would be considered in the line of the window wipers.  We plan to put on a mirror tint on the rear and back quarters, thought it would be nice with the red, till I can a)find a rear louvre b) pay for it.   <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
 
Very relevant question by MarkP there. Hmmm... I'd go for the window open and nonchalant arm pose if the seating position weren't so low (makes me look like an Orang Utan unfortunately). I guess the local lasses will just have to wait for me to get out of the car to get an eyeful :)

(which will lead to a lot of disappointed girls I can tell you! )

ps - As for the tints, I think you can get an anodised red reflective as well as the mirror effect. If I do it I'll go for the smoked one. Funnily enough, many moons ago, I had limo black tints in my much-modded Escort (it was my boy-racer phase, but I'm recovered now) and sure enough I got stopped by the local police. Said plod produced a torch which he tried to shine through my back windows. He looked me up and down and said the immortal words... "Are you some sort of drugs baron then sir?".
