Window Frame channel Rubber/Felt

This is an 8 year thread. I get a lot of wind noise at higher speeds no doubt caused by poor window channel felt inserts. Anyone more recently found a CHEAP UK supplier or is Vintage Car Parts still a good bet ? Anything better now about for the 3mm 240z glass ?

(I really miss being allowed to clamber around cars in the scrap yards, as it was back in the day)

Yes, I think I have a source. I've tested some different sizes and need to get back to them on pricing. I'll let you know when I do soon.

Jason, I sorted my wind noise by using that general draught excluder tape for house widows and doors. Its polysomething material and 9mm wide and 5mm depth. Try B&Q or a poundshop(?). I already have channel felt in place but the widow did not consistently press against it, because it is oldish felt. I only stuck the tape onto my existing felt on the felt side facing outward. The window glass is now sealed all around the pane. No wind noise. It's not OEM nor arts&craft but it looks ok and does the job effectively. I used black felt pen/sharpie to change the white tape to black (and less obtrusive).

To complete the wind job you need to inspect if your door seal rubber is pressing against to top of the door (chrome section) when shut. When you are driving at 50mph plus feel along the bottom of the door for draughts. I stuck a length of that tape on the door itself where it connects with the door rubber. Another source of noise eradicated

I,ve also found a couple of local breakers yards that let you wander around. Try this option as there is likely to be some useful rubber/ channel felt kit on the scrapped cars

That's superb
Thanks so much - the polysomething sounds like the job :hurray:
