As Tel said, saw this at Prescott Speed Hillclimb and it looked nice and straight. A very good used car that doesn't need restoring. There was a guy interested in it and we spoke for some time about the car and what I thought its value was. I probably wasn't the best person to ask as it didn't appeal to me. If you do the maths though you probably couldn't take a solid US car and restore it to this condition (and make it RHD) for this sort of money. Or take a 5k uk car and make it this good. 15k sounds high but ask the majority of good condition 240z owners how much they have spent on their cars. If they told the truth I bet there wouldn't be many that had spent less.

I viewed this car in January 2012 before I bought my current 240z. I can confirm it is a very nice unrestored example and the owner and his wife are very nice genuine people.
When I viewed it there were some issues but from the description on pistonheads these seem to have been sorted now. The car is only a few miles from my house so if anyone here is genuinely interested I would be more than happy to check it over again.

if it is rust free then that is a cheap car but just remember they have rusty cars in OZ.

That's the balancing act. I imagine I'll be that much in, keeping lhd though as I don't want to chop it about.

Good original cars will always be worth 15k plus IMO. remember a good USA car is 6k as they're getting more expensive over there.

I'm not going to question the value of this car, you can buy a nice Mondeo and lose that money in a couple years.

However a restored car is probably better than original in some ways, and good for another 40 years, what will this one be like by then I wonder?

If I had the money I'd snap it up and laugh every time I got in it though, what a nice looking motor.

Having recently come from the world of classic Porsche 911s, this type of car is where their market is now valuing the highest - an original, unrestored matching number example. It used to be a well restored car, then it was a well restored car with all the correct specification parts, then it went to a well restored matching numbers car in original spec, and now the top find is a totally unmollested original car. Now I'm not a Z expert, so I'll leave it to others to say how original this car is, but if you want one to salt away and cosset, then something as I've described is ultimately where the classic car market is heading.

Well i'm sad to say she's sold, however the new owner (Ryan) sounds like a top guy who will cherish her as much as i have.

I would like to thank in no particular order:-

Ben240z, for my early suspension worries that turned out to be nothing wrong with the car (just the nut behind the wheel). Also for recommending the awesome garage in Dorset who tuned my carbs so magnificently.

Pmac for resolving my brake issues (broken servo widget thingy) and for not shouting at me for measuring it wrong so i ordered the wrong sized servo. For supplying the tremendous 200sx gearbox and short shift kit, the best mod ever!

Mr. Feeney for supplying me with copious ammounts of info and the odd part too, you were right those 10.5 HT leads certainly got noticed... and you didn't seem to mind my stupid questions and multiple phone calls either. can keep these up if you like :)

And finally to you all - including Sean, you've given me lots of inspiration & chuckles over the 4 years of ownership from reading about the many drag challenges to the RB conversions and my personal favourite Ian's Rebello engined beastie..

Keep it up,.

Thanks
Nick
