Unusual starting issues

The coil has been changed when the 123 went in, but I had already been upgraded to the 280zx dizzy with flame thrower coil, ballast resistor was long gone before the 123! I’m surprised the tach isn’t working, so hopefully something simple. The 123 app provides a Rev counter display on my phone so that will do for now ;)

Ah - now I see it's the BOSCH one they recommend, Look forward to hearing what the fix will be on the tach ... glad you're running again.

Might have to take the plunge with the 123 ...

Got mine on rockauto via looking up the part numbers.

This is a common issue that I’ve seen many times. I’ve always found it to be the ignition switch. As you probably know, the switch has separate contacts internally for run and start. The contacts for the start position supplying the coil power are separate from the starter solenoid. Often if you wiggle the key in the start position you will find it fires up.

all IMO
