track time

here is a invite to all Z and ZX owners that is 240, 260, 280, 300 etc must be datsun / nissan. How much interest is there in a track day sometime next year. If there is enough interest shown then I will try to arrange. I hope to arrange the day so that those that wish to be more sedate and learn about the car and handling will have time on the track without the faster cars. It has been known that people have enjoyed themselves out on the circuit

You can count me in, and I can vouch for a 240Z owning friend of mine.
Personally speaking, the later in the year is better for me as my 260 will be in for body repairs early in the year. But am thinking of buying a 200SX as a run around, so I guess I could always give that a blast if the Zed's not ready.
What about Z Club members who don't own a Zed ?? The more the merrier I say. Any idea of costs?

(note to pmac - would you like a trim ? suits you sir)

Great choice of car Zed head ( or is it to be SX head 200).
Not only are 200SXs great hairdressers cars but they are also a fab choice for posing and kerb crawling in southern towns such as Stevenage!

Sorry Ben this doesnt have anything to do with your track day title. On a cautionary note Ben remember the Z club made a substantial loss on the last track day due to high track costs and the usual club apathy for actually getting into their Zeds and using them.
On a personal note I am not too interested in bringing my 240Z to track days so dont count me in.( anyone who says I am too old for track stuff is just talking trash!!&#33

Count me in I'm up for some track time,

If you havent driven a 200sx before you'll be really supprised they are quick cars! I dont know many hairdressers who could handle 1! thats for sure. My friends was quite a bit quicker than my 260!

I see apathy rules still,Out of the 579 Zs owned in the club there are not even a handful who want to go and drive the finest piece of engineering to hit the roads in safety with no speed cameras, traffic coming the other way or any of the other hazards on the public roads, and have a some fun driving the car as it was designed to be. What a shame.

Apathy in this club never, think I'll go back to bed now, can't be bothered to post

No prizes for guessing what my answer to this question is Ben.

YES PLEASE.....

How about offering rides to passengers in some of the faster machinery (for a small fee of course).

One of the problems I found with Goodwood last year was that only 5 cars at a time were let onto the track. Logistically, I think the club was always onto a loser. At Castle Combe you can often see 20 or more cars on the track at once. More track time = more revenue, well in theory anyway.

Track Day? Yes Please. Castle Combe is preferable for more cars on the track at one time and Goodwood is better for the faster cars as there is less likelyhood of catching out someone on a "shopping trip". Either way it is a good opportunity to try your Z as a sports car,as originally intented, without upsetting the anti speeding lobby.

From a purely selfish point of view I cannot take Sam on the road anyway so would welcome any track days.

Hi,
Personally I don't think my Z31 brakes would be up to driving on a track...as they're barely adequate for the road!
I would have liked to have driven my old Z32 on a track, but I had sold it before Goodwood and the exhausts were probably too loud anyway!
Might like to try the drag strip next year though!

If you do want some decent track time then why not why not look at Scoobynet (Subaru Impreza Driver's Club). They have a LOT of track days and there's always enough Scooby's to blanket book the track. They're an amenable bunch and don't seem to mind us tagging along ! They like to see the competition !

Donnington Park's the choice circuit! I certainly wouldn't recommend taking a Z onto Cadwell Park though, having been round in my mates Scooby WRX. They've got armco barriers right on the track on dogleg bends and each time I've been there there's been a couple of write-offs.

Yep - I'll certainly be taking my car out to the track (or airfield)

would also be great if some of the more experienced rally/track drivers would be there to give some advice to us novices, maybe go out in the car with people and give tuition even..

Dunno how I missed this thread before but I'm definitely up for it (location/cost allowing).

Please find out more!

Cheers,

TL

You might be interested to read the latest edition of Retro Magazine, which is featuring a Trackday for the older, more stylish machinery on Saturday, April 10th at Elvington, nr York.
Wide open runways, plenty of time on the track and all for only £85 for the day.
Yes, Ben, I know it is a long long way from Dorset, but is only about 20 minutes off the A1 Motorway network, and easy to reach from the Midlands and the wrong side of the Pennines ( sorry, make that the rainy side...)
So, no Subaru Hooligans to play with, and no money worries for the Club.... I will be going, for sure, as it will be a cheap test day
for the Rally car.

Anyone wanna ride in the Passenger seat ?

anyone / everyone is welcome at Mitsi Lancer Register trackdays-
-first one is at Cadwell Park in April

I've done a few but never in my 'z'
& for this year's trackdays... it's likely to be in a Lancer ex2000 turbo or modded Lancia y10 turbo (- 1 litre/150+ bhp & 600kgs !)

Oooh Elvington can be a lot of fun. Do you know who the actually organiser is? I've done a couple of days there run by Easy Track who lay out a pretty good circuit. I'd definitely be up for a passenger ride, probably best to do that before partaking of a dodgy burger from the ubiquitous vendor!

I'd love to try Cadwell as well, I've heard it's rated as well as Oulton which is a fave of mine, helps being local ;)

Cheers,
Rob

Top man Ben for starting this thread! A track day is the only way you can truly develop your driving skills. Ultimatley you will become a quicker but safer driver on the road. For those of you willing to put your money where your mouth is, your first track day weapon should be a subscription to Circuit Driver magazine!(£34.99 a bargin) Not only does it contain fantastic write ups on various trackday machinery and technigues for track driving. There is also a month by month listing of all track days up and down the country , including prices and a contact tel no for the organiser. Check out the website www.circuitdriver.com
Who knows maybe there's some budding racers amongst you! The more Z's at my race meetings the better. For dates of the HSCC 70's roadsports championship you can look at the website www.hscc.org.uk or just ask Mr F...

You could always come to the JapFest at Castle Combe
Japfest

Apart from a Z Club car stand, I can supple entrance tickets and vehicle passes, there will also be a Z Club dedicated track session. This will be a 15 minute slot for just us:D :D
I will need money up front for this, £17.50, the usual price is £22.50.
There will be other track sessions throughout the day if you want more fun.

if you are interested or want more details drop me a line
