The "Ultimate" Sacrifice

Personally I think 18" is too big for an S30 because of the steering geometry but they would look absolutely fantastic.

I agree 18's would be far to big for a car as old as the S30.

Will look for something similar elsewhere.

you want to make a statement !:p

Actually, the real eason is that gel coat is several thousand pounds cheaper than paint - they do red, blue, green, orange, yellow and black gel coats. The red looks bang on right but is very ferrari wannabe, the black loses the agression of the car and the yellow is SERIOUSLY in your face. The blue and green don't work for me and the orange is not bright enough.

Image were the original suppliers to Ultima - these were the original wheels. Ultima now have the centres machined for themselves and use OZ rims. Many Ultima guys still use the image wheels. Sorry, forgot all about Image, they will do virtually the same wheel in 17s.

Ultima ones are £2000 + VAT a set, the image ones are not much different for the same size. Would be less for smaller diameter and narrower wheels VERRRRY nice :)

Just got a set of these - Intrax shock absorbers as supplied by Ultima (no fannying around working what will fit or not) The standard ones are proflex, these are the upgraded ones :

IntraxShocks.jpg

The coil-over spring dampers have been specially designed, tested and manufactured by Intrax
Mono-tube construction with internal separation piston ensures accurate damping at all positions
Incorporates thermostatically controlled valves which give uniform damping at all times
Springs are made from the best race quality chrome silicon wire, protected from corrosion with silver powder-coating

Insanely OTT but 50 way adjustable with the knurled ring on top of the shocks. Takes seconds to adjust, that's all. The factory recommends starting with them on full soft and dialling "upwards" until a nice satisfactory road drive is achieved - ie 10 clicks "up" from the bottom.

They then suggest on a track day, working through to find how you like the suspension set, working top downwards, ie 18 clicks down.

To reset, you simply lift the fron and rear clips, put the suspension on full soft and click 10 up on each corner. Bingo, road set up. At the track you simply wind it full up then count x amount of clicks down. Bingo, track set up.

Nice and soft rear set up for the drag strip .......

Am sure Steve can explain why ??????? I am just regurgitating what I have been told.

Andy love this thread.

Do you think that Top Gear will now stick a Ultima around the track as they did in the 7 last night ?.

It has aready been done but privately - Ultima hired the same track, the same film crew, the same track manager and The Stig .......

First time round, the Ultima decimated everything and came in 5 seconds quicker than ANYTHING - Enzo, Koenigseggeggeggeggegg, Zonda, you name it, they beat it.

The factory sent the footage to every motoring program worldwide and every motoring / racing magazine but Top Gear slapped an injuction on it in less than 48 hours claiming it would stop the major supercar manufacturers lending them cars to test.

It was a STANDARD road car but with the Intrax shocks running a 720BHP iron block chevy engine. SCROLL DOWN and click the videos .... looky here :

Now they have done the 7, who knows ? Hopefully ......

Still not as fast as the Caparo. That was 1.10 so beat the Ultima by over 2 seconds. That only had 500bhp and not over 700. Obviously it wouldn't get over a sleeping policeman so didn't count. I'm not dissing the Ultima by the way 'cause it's great but it didn't "decimate everything".

No your right but it did decimate everything on their board ....... thanks for the clarification :) As you said, the T1 does not go over a sleeping policeman so it is disqualified ..... in the same way there are no formula 1 cars on the Top Gear board ..... or top fuel dragsters ;) To quote the guru, apples and aardvarks.

And for the record, my intention is not to go for the silly numbers like the 720BHP car - I will be happy with a lot less BHP because it will much more fun to point and squirt. Again, as you point out it is no "diss" towards Ultima, but a well sorted "Caterfield" style Seven with a Hyabusa engine would probably nail an Ultima too. Those things are like four wheeled motorbikes :)

Deal just sorted - picking some of these up on Friday (all brand new) :

FrontHubs.jpg

Bespoke front and rear hubs are machined from a solid billet of 24T steel for maximum strength (I am picking up rear hubs and stub axles too but photo not shown).

Things are starting to go predictably out of sync already but I am buying stuff that is coming up cheap. Because this stuff is all off the shelf and therefore "fits", it is possible to save a HUGE amount of money by buying judiciously and taking the bargains as they crop up. I reckon it is possible to shave between £10 - 20,000 off the "typical" Ultima build cost and still have identical parts, all brand new.

Both payments refunded by paypal - I am sorry that you had to wait longer than you wished - I explained my personal circumstances to you both and how difficult it was half way through a break up to drive two hours to the workshop to sort this out. Funnily enough I am going on Friday as the chassis is being delivered and was going to post them then.

Anyhow, you both have a refund so hopefully you will be happy with that.

Actually I didn't ask for a refund and I'd of rather had the item I had paid for, All you needed to say was that you planned to send it on Friday.
