Ben, I would not go as far as calling it a misfire, but take your thoughts on board. It is like a light flickering on and off quickly... the power is there, but not quite enough to be on constant.

What was physically wrong with the rotor arm when you traced it to it? If it was the rotor arm, does not explain why the problem resurfaced 6 months later (for me)....have spare to try...

I think the wire to the distributor that broke the likely cause as did not feel good when testing connection, and the spark plug breaking was coincidence.... Will see on Sat.

Paul, not around on Sun, give us a bell on Sat.

Don't discount fuel.

I worked on the carbs of a vehicle I had once and then a few days later it ran poorly. Kept checking my work on the carbs, but it ended up being tracking inside the distributor cap.

So keep an open mind.

I used BP7 plugs by the way - as instructed by K Irons who had my engine rebuilt.

Hi Mike, not yet, changing rotor arm, cap and putting in plugs has had no affect. Got hold of another coil, yet to try. Been busy with other things like under the bonnet of someone elses Z! Try coil and module, if not have to look at fuel next....

Luckily for us that YOU saved the Z world from UK and Euro engine builders then.

Perhaps the best are still the Japanese.....
