Hi,

Has anyone used splitfire spark-lugs in their 240/260/280? Was there any difference in performance?

"Magic products"

The Federal Trade Commission in the states has brought false advertising charges against Splitfire for making claims stating performance and economy gains without supportive data.

SPLITFIRE SETTLES FTC CHARGES:
ECONOMY, EFFICIENCY CLAIMS ARE DECEPTIVE

In the latest in a series of FTC cases targeting deceptive ads for products that promise to improve automobile performance and economy, SplitFire, Inc., has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that economy, efficiency and improved performance claims for its spark plugs were false or unsubstantiated. The agreement to settle the FTC charges will bar SplitFire from making deceptive claims about fuel economy, emissions, horsepower or cost savings. The company also will be barred from misrepresenting the results of tests, studies or research and from misrepresenting testimonials.

That pretty much sums it up eh?!!

Basically you'll only have one spark anyway as the electric charge will go to the path of least resistance.

Cheers,

Ok - good point, yes. Must remember physics O-level in future. Waste of money then.

Cheers!

The only performance gain I can fathom is that they may last longer? However I'd sooner save the money and change them twice as often :)

Used them in a 240Z road car a couple of years back. Personally I wouldn't touch them again with a barge pole.

Overpriced and over-rated!!!!

over the years i have found ngk perform better but are prone to fouling in the cold start situation but champion seem to go longer but dont perform as well but denso seem to have a middle ground. i think the only real answer is to make sure fuelling and ignition set spot on and regular servicing whatever you choose.

I would always go for NGK and ditto Grolls on fuel and ignition setup with a regular oilchange (every 5000 miles at most !).

Just a small point, i was told by MrF recently that if your running a 280zx distibutor on a 240/260 engine it's also better to use the plugs from 280 as well :D

Yep I have read that somewhere, makes sense though....... considering the higher tension spark developed by the beefier 12 volt coil.

Yeh save the money from not buying Splitfires and spend it on a spark plug gap tool (whatever the correct name may be, please enlighten me, feeler gauges?).
